Ticket prices to increase $3.00

I saw a small article in Thursday's newspaper that mentioned the ticket increases for Ohio's 3 largest amusement parks. Cedar Point was increasing $3.00 for a ticket price of $42.00. Kings Island was going up $2.00 for a gate price of $42.00 as well. And SFWoA was going up $2.00, bringing it ticket price to $40.00.
Was to be expected :).
I thought cp's tickets were 40 bucks? Maybe when people told me they just rounded up

They were $39 in 2001.
Why would they wait till now to raise the ticket price?  Why didn't they do that earlier?

Why would they do that earlier?
Somewhere I saw $38 dollars advertised for 2001.   I think $39 sounds familiar.  I don't know what the price was though. I think $42 in 2002 sounds fair.

Trust me, I worked in Admissions. :) It was $39 in 2001.
Looking back twelve season's, thanks to my Getaway Guides that I saved, you can see how much the admission price has changed over the years:

1990- $19.95

1991- $21.95

1992- $22.95

1993- $23.95

1994- $25.95

1995- $26.95

1996- $28.95

1997- $29.95

1998- $31.95

1999- $32.95

2000- $38.00

2001- $39.00

Well I thought if they did that earlier they would make more money.  But I see why now.  They like to gradually get up with the price.  But I start to wonder when will the increasing stop?  How much money is a person willing to pay to ride rides?  Personally, I would be willing to a hundred dollars for admission just to ride all those awesome rides.
Well I think they will only stop if a-they run outta room and demolish old coasters...or b-go into a long streak of years of perfecting the little things of the park. so basically we will continue to see higher prices:)

And how much more did parking go up?
So getting a SP is getting more and more worth it.
exactly

Raptor0137: I'm curious...Do you also have the "standard discount" or group rates for those years?

--Dave Althoff, Jr.

Unfortunately Rideman, I do not have any group rate pricing, as those aren't included in my Getaway guides or brochures from those years.

On a side note, with admission going up $3.00, I'm suprised that they had season passes on sale for $79.00 earlier this fall.

Yeah, I took advantage of the that low sean pass price for the first time.
