Thunder Canyon

Anyone ever get soaked on the Swan Boats? I got stuck under one of the fountains, long story the stupid paddle broke - I took on more water than on SRF. Soaked - on the swan boats none the less!!

I don't do water rides after that one! :)

I like them both. My little guy is finally tall enough for TC and boy did we have a blast on that ride. He laughed so hard watching everyone get soaked and bragged about how he got hammered by the falls. I love the drop on SRF, but the ride is too short. It's a lot of fun watching the people have fun with it though. I wish that CP still had one of the log rides, they were fun too.

I just love both water rides!

but as I said before Thunder Canyon is better

Snake River Falls.. and not just because I like Pepsi

People need to quit saying that Thunder Canyon water is dirty, because it is not! I mean it is lake water that we all have swam in before! So, what is the big deal about going on Thunder Canyon!

Just because its lake water doesn't mean that its clean.

Depends on the bacteria content of the water! :)

Yea but we have all swam in lake water before, so what's the big deal....

Before, as in before every beach from Lake St. Claire through Lake Erie gets shut down at least once a year because bacteria levels are too high.

I grew up in Green Bay, WI - it was #3 on EPA superfund clean up list at one time. Didn't swim in or aound the bay or lake. In land lakes..yes. The great lakes water has changed - at least since I was a kid. Beaches were never closed in the 70's/80's due to bacteria.

I guess that brings up another question - if Sandusky had to close the beach due to bacteria - would that affect the water ride(s)?

It would have to be a really hot day and I would need to have a change of clothes w/ me to ride TC. I wouldn't want to stink for the rest of the day.

The only one it would affect is Thunder Canyon. SRF is filled once at the beginning of the season and chlorinated.
I would imagine it is "topped off" periodically through the season as water is lost to evaporation though.
