Thunder Canyon

My daughter has to do a report on Thunder Canyon and needs to know the highest point of the ride. Does anyone know?

Not 100% sure here, but going off of the fact that I have climbed the lift a few times, I would say around 25-28 feet. I could be way off though.

I knew at one time when I worked on the ride, but i keep thinking 28ft.

I am thinking 28ft to0. But the drop is like 10?

I know this doesn't help with your question, but talk about a ride that needs retired ! Seriously, what does this ride do other than drench you with stinky, stagnant, disgusting water ?? Probably one of the worst rapids rides ever built.

If it wasn't for Thunder Canyon and Snake River Falls, They would not have any need to charge $5.00 to use the Haystack Dryer.

TC is a great rapids ride. It's one of my favorite rides at CP. The water is drained every day and new water is put in.

The water isn't dirty/stinky, as mentioned above it is drained and refilled daily.

You'll have to help me out on your stagnant water claim... last time I checked science still considered stagnant water to be unmoving. But then again, those hydrological types sure are crafty with their changing of what words mean.

Well, it's 100% Lake Eerie water, so however you choose to describe Lake Eerie applies to Thunder Canyon.

As an added bonus, I believe this is the only rapids ride in the world where you might actually have a fish fall into your boat. ;)

Yeah (stagnant/ fixed it), maybe exaggerated a bit. One too many shots last night. :)

The water does smell a little though, atleast it used too. Have not ridden it in a while. I still don't think it's that great of a ride. The best one of these around was at Hershey and guess what ... It was torn down in the off season to make way for their new water attractions.

Thunder canyon is the best rapids ride i have ever been on.
Roman Rapids BGE- loads VERY slow and get waaaay to wet.

Raging Rapids KNWD- loads slow and talk about stinky and dirty water.

Kalhi River Rapids WDW AK-best big hill but really boring any other wise.

Thunder Canyon CP- Really nice and long, loads fast-the only thing it needs is a little theming and would be great!

Pepsi Refresh is saving one coaster at a time: http://pep.si/bTTsfc

Been on all of those also, plus several others that I won't try and name. Guess it's just a matter of preference. But in a word describing TC though ... PUS !

I was at Michigan's Adventure last year and was pumped to ride Grand Rapids. Unfortunately it broke down right as were approached it and didn't reopen. Maybe this summer I'll head back and hope for another chance to ride.

Grand Rapids at Michigan Adventure's is actually very good, if anything better than Thunder Canyon. Sorry to hear that you couldn't get on it Vince.

Grand Rapids was quite fun. I got completely soaked on it. Could use some more trees and such, but I'm sure those will grow in over time.

Yeah it looked very nicely done from what I saw. Obviously it looked very new and the foliage wasn't very mature but with time I'm sure it will look great.

Thunder Canyon is great for a really hot day. Usually the line isn't too bad, and it moves pretty quick.
