Throwing Quarters at Millennium Trains

I spent a good portion of the day Wednesday at Cedar Point with someone who had never been at the park. Great day and short lines for just about everything, the main negative being an afternoon thunderstorm that closed everything for nearly two hours.

So, while we were waiting for the second row in Millennium (next train was ours), something quite interesting (and disturbing) occurred. Some Cedar Point Police and CP employees entered the station house, accompanied by two guests. The guests pointed out three people waiting in line for the second car (right next to us) and explicitly pointed each of the individuals out, stating, "That's them." They were then escorted out of the station by the police.

The guests who did the accusing then got in the second car right behind us. After we were seated, I turned back and asked, "What was that about?" expecting to hear that they were line jumpers. Instead, I heard (paraphrasing a bit), "They were flicking quarters at Millennium trains as they were going by the queue ramp." He then added, "I could hear the coins hitting the cars.." I probably had an astonished look on my face at that point..

When our train arrived back in the station, more police were questioning some of the riders from the previous train. I heard one of the policemen ask, "So you saw them also?" and saw the two guests they were talking to answer in the affirmative.

It really disgusts me that people would behave in this fashion. I'm sure everyone here can imagine that getting hit in the face by a quarter at the speed the trains are whizzing by the station would hurt, and could even blind someone. I'm sure these individuals got ejected from the park, but I'm hoping they were arrested and/or charged with something for their actions.

Has anyone else ever witnessed anything similar to this at the park?

That's insane. I forget who it is (Jeff maybe?) on here that has a story about a guy pissing off the ramp. People are insane.

Wow thats horrible..ive never heard of such a thing.

Total Maverick rides for the 2007 season = 27

Top 5--- 1. Maverick- 2. Millennium 3. Magnum 4. TTD 5. Gemini

Cavs- 2007 Eastern Conference Champions!.-

They could be facing pretty heavy charges if enough witnesses came forward. Which is a good thing. Jacka$$es like that deserve to have the book thrown at them.

Even though this is a rather negative story, I have to give credit for the people that came forward to let the powers that be aware of what was happening.

Kudos to them!

Beer and golf Thursday thru Monday, Cedar Point & beer, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Can you see One-Eyed-Willie from the top of Magnum?

I'd expect crap like this at a Six Flags park (ie. higher white trash quotient) but at CP? Yikes!

People like that deserve to be severly beat. If there were that many witnesses, I wouldn't be suprised if they were banned from the park in addition to what ever charges might be brought up.

I could see revoking someone's season pass, but I'm guessing these three individuals did not have season passes. Other than that, I don't see how you could reasonably ban someone from a park, unless perhaps the threat of arrest upon future entry of the park was levied. But anyone paying cash could quite easily get into the park, even if "banned".

I've witnessed guest stupidity numerous times at the park (i.e. a group of kids smoking a joint in Raptor's queue) but this definately takes the cake. The scary thing is that somebody on the midway could do the same thing to a launching Dragster train...ouch...

Cedar Point rocks my socks.

It can happen at any park. That's the thing about this world. There's soo many stupid people that they are just about everywhere you go. And they aren't limited to "white trash". In fact they're at Cedar Point just about every day.....but it takes just one drugged, low IQ induced idea to show just how stupid they really are.

Whenever you're at Cedar Point....or any park for that matter, always be aware of the people around you. You never know when they have a stroke of idiocy.

IIRC people have been banned from Cedar point before. Anyone else here have something closer to first hand knowledge than me?

I do know it happens at other parks. One exanple is Holiday World.

I can't imagine the list of banned people would be very long. It could be done as simpley as having a picture of them in the ticket booths like the "10 most wanted list" at the post office. Obviously, if they really want to get back in the park, they'll find away, but then if they get caught, it could be considered tresspasing.

I belive it was just last summer someone at yankee stadium jumped from the upperdeck, to the net above the lowerdeck that protects spectators from pop flies, to see if it would support his weight. I belive he was issued a lifetime ban from the stadium for putting the safety of other people at risk.

... And if it had not supported his weight??? As charlie brown would say: Good Grief...!

2006 Screamster (Fright Zone)

Ridiculous. But it's not all that surprising. I've seen a whole buch of dumb things from guests like that, up to and including fights. But at least it's rare.

People do a lot of dumb things at CP, and lots of times their actions should warrant charges against them. It usually has to be pretty extreme and with lots of witnesses for CP police to even toss them out of the park. It has to be even more extreme for them to actually press charges, but it does happen.

I always figured that most people leave their brains at home when they visit CP, but I'm slowly realizing that most of them just don't have any intelligence to begin with.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

That's horrible. I can't believe someone would be that ignorant.

A while back, didn't someone get hurt on the Villain at GL from someone on the ground throwing rocks?

It's called Millennium Force, not "Millenium" Force. Thanks.

I think your right about people getting on hurt on Villain for rocks getting thrown. I agree with Ralph with people not having intelligence to begin with.

I think I saw those same kids. It was a few years ago now - two girls sharing a joint in the queue for Raptor. One had a tracheotomy scar on her throat.

One of the two girls promptly tossed her cookies in some bushes as soon as she got off the ride.

Just lovely.

Great...as if dodging seagulls isn't enough, now I'll have to look out for quarters. Oh well, I'm glad that the CP police took action. I just have a low tolerance for idiotic behavior. I know we all go to parks to have fun, but can't we be mature? My niece was terrified after a ride on Magnum when the high school/collge aged guys kept screaming and fake crying that we were going to crash and something was wrong, etc. I know they were having fun, as I'm sure the kids throwing coins were, but it was at somebody else's expense. I hope they tossed their cookies like the joint smoker on Raptor.

On Sunday after opening day I saw some guys with a different 5th of liquor in each of their cargo pockets. They were drinking it straight from the bottle in line for Raptor...

Also someone I hoped would toss their cookies...

If you're asked not to enter the park, and you can bet that it's put in writing, then entering the park is criminal trespassing. Trust me, parks do this, as we've had lists given to us from parks where we've done CoasterBuzz Club events so as not to allow them to register.

^ 100% correct. I had an incident with a guest in '02 involving line jumping and physical abuse, and with me as a witness to the situation, I actually signed a paper issuing a remainder of the season ban for the idiot.
