I loved that pirate ship.

My friend rode pirate ride, the last year it was open. she does not remember it well, though.

I was OBSESSED with the rotor as a kid, the one at geauga lake. Earthquake sounds fun, so does the upsidedown fun house. my mom remembers the skywheel, and even those wristbands that they made you wear to ride!! :)

I remember riding the pirate ride with my buds (partners in crime) a lot to get out of the heat and up to the last year it ran. It had a lot of problems the last few years with the boats (ride vehicles) getting stuck or stalling in spots along the track (maintaining electrical contact with the track power). We would almost always get stuck or almost at least 4 times along the track. 2 times, we did get completely stuck at a stop till the ride vehicle behind us would bump into us and push us along to the next circuit in the track and one time it pushed us all the way out to the exit. (Yes blocking I don't think existed on that ride, or it didn't work like it should have.)

Just a thought that came up in a conversation about WindSeeker. Laugh if you want to...

What if the UFO topper on WindSeeker, was really a wind turbine, at 300ft up,would there be enough wind to provide power to a ride that size. .

That would be cool.

Until it does this anyway.

I had an idea for Cedar Point and hopefully On Point Tony Reads this. They should take a few of the queue rails that Mean Streak doesn't use any more and use that for Wind Seeker. Lets face it, Mean streak doesn't use that much queue anymore and I'm sure Cedar Point could save money by using what they have.

I've seen them used on warm Saturdays during Halloweekends. Besides, once the rails are buried in concrete, I'm not sure how economical it is to try and remove them for reuse in another location.

Well from talking with my buddies about Wind Seeker, only one of them said they would ride it. I'm going to kind of quote my other friends on this. "That ride looks dangerous" .Obviously if the ride wasn't safe, they would never build it right?

"Safe" is a nebulous and relative term. Nothing is 100% safe.

That said, there's absolutely no reason to think WindSeeker is any more or less safe than, say, Skyhawk or Maxair, which have similar restraint/seating systems.

So I'm assuming the ride platform will use a standard elevator system to go up and down? Cables, pulleys, counterweight?

I agree that it will be as safe as any other ride but I can see where people can come up with the unsafe thinking. To me it looks carnavalish, like something you would see at a county fair (except for it being 300 ft tall), like The Hurricane. I think that perception might scare people away from it.

Personally, I welcome the addition of so-called "carnivalish" rides, as they bring some much-needed variety to CP's marquee lineup. And really, what does that term mean? The way it's been applied around here, my take is that anything that doesn't navigate a steel or wood track on wheels (read: roller coaster) is considered "carnivalish".

The unsafe feeling might be the ride's biggest draw. For me, Skyhawk is great not just because of the air time, but because looking down from the apex at the ground some 125 feet below, with only the bare minimum keeping you in your seat, is one of the greatest thrills in the entire park.

To me (and I can't be wrong since I made up the word:) ) carnivalish means it looks cheap and rickety, like it could fall apart at any time.

Hey, I like carnival rides, they do bring attention to other parts of a park. The Zipper is a fun ride, and it can be ricketty and bangy, but its still fun :)

Carnival rides "fill in" the empty areas a the park so people can ride those rides while waiting for a longer line of a major coaster to die down. While some adults will ride a big coaster, their kids may not want to ride the big one, but the carival or flat rides are there to suit their needs :)

Don't get me wrong. I love flats. I just think that the appearance of WindSeeker may cause a lot of fear for some people because of how simple it looks.

Or maybe its just that most people can't handle the spinny part.
