Those sure signs of aging

Walking around the park for two days kills my feet and knee. High arches and previous knee surgery absolutely do not mix well. Surprisingly after having back surgery, I have not had any issues. I take Excedrin Migraine with me to keep my knee quiet. I use insoles from Super Feet, they help, but my feet are still sore at the end of a day.

Spinny rides are a no go here also (as with most adults). If the radius is wide enough like with Witches Wheel, it's tolerable (once). Pipe Scream is also doable (once) because of the linear motion offsetting the spin. Tilt-a-Whirl would destroy me for the day (and has).

Then there's GLOC. Millennium's first hill and subsequent right curve will cause a white out for me without precautions. We've talked about this before, but doing strong, all-body muscle constrictions along with being well-hydrated prevents it. I'm sure if I did nothing I'd black out.

GLOC?

At 44 I can't do the spin-n-barf rides anymore.

Oh, another change I've noticed. I do not care for heights anymore. They never used to bother me but the past few years I find I'm not comfortable with them. Coasters don't bother me at all - maybe it is being strapped to a seat in a structure but no issues with the likes of MF or TTD, but put me on Windseeker and I am a bit uptight. Taking daughter on Drop Tower at Kings Island took a bit of self-convincing.

Kinda' amused by my change in attitude about heights. Wonder how I'd take a dive coaster, Hmm.

I must be the anomaly. I'm 43 and as of the end of last season tilt-a-whirl was still ridable multiple times in a row. Don't ask me to walk straight afterwards, but I can ride it and love it. I am sometimes a bit dizzy after Raptor too but I'm usually good by the time I hit the stairs.

I'm 56, but I'm another one that is not bothered at all by either coasters or spinning rides. Some of my favorite rides are still Witches Wheel, MaXair, Monster, Matterhorn, Tilt-A-Whirl, Tiki Twirl and Scrambler. Can ride those as much as I like.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Just looking at all the those teen girls walking the concrete in flip flops makes my feet hurt. They need to put on some sensible shoes...and get off my lawn :)

Aw man, I remember being one of those girls so well.... on my last trip to Cedar Point, I wore flats the first day which of course gave me blisters, and flip flops the second day, a full day of miles of walking. I can't believe I actually did that to myself. It took me up until the last couple years (I'm in my late 20s) to finally realize that it's actually better to wear comfortable shoes rather than hurt my feet... Lol. I used to get so annoyed with my mother when she said to wear sensible shoes and I would never do it. Now it's like, why did I do that to myself, repeatedly??? But that's part of being young. I'm wearing my most comfortable running sneakers to the park this time. I know I don't have college-aged stamina for back to back 12 hour days at the park in flip flops any more....

As far as spinning rides go, I love them! I know plenty of people, both young and old, that hate to ride them, but I have always loved carnivals and carnival rides. Oddly enough, though my husband doesn't really care for them, his mother does.... so now my mother-in-law is my carnival ride buddy, and she's in her 50's. So I guess there's hope that I'll always be able to enjoy them.
