Those Mansions located across the Parking Lot?

If you ever noticed those massive mansions located outside the park, I was wondering if Dick Kinzel or any of the high ranked Cedar Point staff live over there, or Do they really get paid that much to afford a house like that? Lol feel free to voice your opinion. I'm just wondering who would live there, if so they are VERY LUCKY!

Maybe I haven't paid enough attention, but where are they at specifically? I don't recall seeing any mansions.

They are along the North East side of the parking lot. Very very large houses. I believe the Kinzel's live in one of them. Not sure if other execs do.

Here is a address to one of these giants lol

I think Dick Kinzel live in this one

The closest to CP is Kinzels.

If you happec to drive down the Cedar Point Causeway leading from the Huron area or (the road leading to DT) they are lined up along side the road (Cedar Point Drive) the very last house is the largest, it's right off the beach. I would say thats Kinzels compound lol

Ah, now I know where they're at. I never gave any thought as to whom lived in there.

As said above, Kinzel's house is the closest one to Cedar Point. No idea who the neighbors are.

I'll take your word for it that one of those houses is Kinzel's, but it brings up a question. On the lower floor of the Cedar dorms (the red ones near the IMAX theater entrance, nearest the marina, is a suite that was used by prior Chairman/President's of the corporation as their in-season home away from home. It includes a full kitchen and several rooms. The apts surrounding it were used by their guests or VIP visitors. So, if Kinzel has a full size home just off the main parking lot, who is using that corporate suite?

Believe me, no one in corporate would let their guests near Cedars now. College kids (employees) walk out when they realize they may be living there, and in my experience, we aren't too terribly picky about where we sleep. It is probably now an employee convenience area for those living in Cedars. They have used the Breakers East section (and Towers, maybe) for corporate guests for a while now, and I would imagine that will remain the same with the new office building (which should have been built elsewhere, but that's a different topic).

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Point well taken. I roomed at the Cedars when I worked at the park back in the 70's, but I'm not talking about the sections where the hourly are "caged". I'm talking about apts with ourside doors that are clearly visible on your right as you walk from the entrance to Famous Dave's for some ribs :-). Next time, look closely at the one at the end of the building, ground floor, nearest the marina. It has a large white door and a gold colored knocker on it. I assure you, they are nothing like the employee housing.

Yeah, I've seen those waiting for the bus, and from the windows, it definitely looked like employees were living there. I would bet they've been downgraded, or those employees get lucky. The building is very visibly falling apart, and that section is no exception now.

The big red brick house with the black shutters on the very end is Kinzel's.

The Cedars suites still do exist. They are the individual units on the Famous Dave's side near the parking lot. That is often where a lot of "important" visitors on business with CP stay, but I don't think they are anything much more fancier than a typical hotel/apartment.

I've stayed in the "executive apartments" next to Cedars. Each one is a little different, I believe, but they're not bad. I think the one I had slept six and had two bathrooms. It was enormous. Apparently they can only put guests in them and not rent them because of ADA rules or something.

I wouldn't call Kinzel's house a mansion, not at 7,730 square feet. At $1.3 million, it's not even an expensive house (especially by coastal standards).

I'd be willing to bet he got the land for free though as I'm sure Cedar Point owned that particular piece of property.

Jeff, was there air conditioning in those apartments? I had family stay in one of the Bayside Condos for my wedding weekend and they were pretty nice. I know the Board members often stayed there when visiting town until Breakers East was built.

Yep, they have air, and it gets really cold. Like I said, I thought it was comfortable. Very convenient access to Famous Dave's, too.
