We are visiting this Friday and Saturday from Georgia and I have a couple of questions. Will the park open 1 hour early on Friday and Saturday for Joe Cool club members like normal? That would make it at 5:00 PM on Friday and 11:00 AM on Saturday. Also will the Soak City parking lot be open or will everyone have to park in the main parking lot up front? Any info will be appreciated.
Yes, the park opens the hour early on Friday and Saturday. And the Soak City lot will be open. I'll be at the Soak City gate before 5 on Friday.
Everyday they are open :)
I'm going Sunday with some friends and it looks to be a wonderful day weather wise. Lets just hope the crowds aren't to massively huge.
"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"
Well, with the weather forcast being as good as it is...prepare for VERY large crowds.
what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
^^BUT....wouldn't you agree that the crowds will NOT be as crazy as they were, say, on Saturday, July 14th or Saturday, July 21st, or even Saturday, August 25th!?!
I mean, the crowds can't be worse than those days, right?
Considering the crowds I encountered during this summer, I would expect even larger crowds for a nice Halloweekends weekend. I would expect even more if the weekend previous wasn't very good. There were several Sundays and Mondays this summer where the crowds were equal to Saturday crowds because the weekend had been pretty bad, so basically take that concept and apply it to just weekends. If last weekend was bad, then expect even larger crowds than if last weekend would have been a beautiful one.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
I was seriously thinking about going to CP this weekend but with the weather that is predicted, forget about it. I'll go when the weather gets a little cooler and overcast. Perfect riding conditions if you ask me. :-)
The weather went from 69 to 70 to 74 degrees. At this rate it might be as scorching hot as it was the 25th of August.
I mean, the crowds can't be worse than those days, right?
That made me laugh. :)
These will most likely be the absolute busiest days all year. These are the Halloweekends people plan on going to due to the weather.
Then again, there is something to be said about being at the park when it is loaded. Granted the lines can be hit and miss, but it is also when:
1) people watching is at its peak
2) the lines can actually get fun with the right mix in the crowd
3) it's nice to see your favorite park so busy!
You will have a blast, and with your Joe Cool youll get some great ride time in pre-crowdiness.
Hope you have a boo-tiful day!

Promoter of fog.
You guys have it all wrong.
Let me break out my magic 8 ball. Oh crap, I just dropped it and it broke, and now there's blue liquid all over the floor.
I guess we'll never know how the crowds will be this weekend.
I can see it being busy, but not record breaking Halloweekend busy because it's still early in the season to be in the Halloween spirit for most.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
Hello...I have been reading you guys for like 2 years now and finally decided to register. I was the park this Saturday and it was as busy as I have seen it in a while. Given I wasn't there in August, but for the first weekend of Halloweekends, it was busy. The fright zone was really crowded, and as some of you know, Maverick was down the entire day. Our longest wait was Millenium and that was about 1 1/2 hours.

Me too - finally decided to register...
Headed to CP for Fri/Sat/Sun this weekend and when I planned the trip a month ago I was worried about rain. Now I'm worried that the weather will be TOO nice. Haven't visitied on a Halloweekend before, but from what I'm reading here I should figure on some massive crowds on Saturday. Maybe. Or probably.
It also sounds like Fri night and maybe Sun mornings typically aren't so bad? Given all of that (magic 8 ball predictions aside) I'm thinking that spending Saturday afternoon at Castaway Bay would give us a way to avoid the worst of the crowds and then go back to the park for the evening?
