I know this is so early to be thinking about this, but what does everybody think will happen in 2008? I mean a ride will have to be eliminated from the park! There is just simply no room left. I am thinking there will be a new water ride for 2008! What does everyone else think?

So, then why would they tear down WWL?
It was becoming a problem in terms of maintenance.

Wow, Maverick wasn't even unveiled a week ago and people already want to know what's coming next year. I'll say this much; probably NOT a coaster. I could see another flat ride going in somewhere, or the water park being fixed up some, but I don't really expect to see anything until around 2009-2010 coaster wise. I think 2010'll see the next traditional world's tallest/fastest/ throw in 20 other records etc lol. Seeing as Magnum was built in 1989 and Millennium Force was built in 2000, we'll probably see a traditional sit down tallest and fastest every 10 years or so until they run out of space in the park.
Anyway, I think that minimal things will be done at Cedar Point in the near future and that other parks in the Cedar Fair chain may get some focus, such as Knot's Berry Farm, Vallyfair, World's of Adventure, and Michigan's Adventure. I'd like to see a new coaster at Dorney Park, but I don't think that'll happen until '08-'09 and hopefully that'll be an Intamin ride. Well, that's just my view on what Cedar Fair'll be up to for the next few years.
Ride Count at Dorney Park so far this year:
Hydra: 14 Laser: 3 Steel Force: 11 Talon: 18 Thunderhawk: 4
And that's just in 23 hours!
They've said numerous times that the operating budget for Cedar Point (their flagship park) will remain unchanged since the acquisition. So, if they planned on putting in a new coaster in 07 and 08 before the acquisition, they're still planning the same thing.
When Cedar Point says they have a five year plan, I believe this means they have a general idea of what they plan on building over a five year period. That does not necessarily mean they know exactly what they're going to build. In the case of Maverick, they started planning shortly after Dragster opened. This is three years advance in beginning to plan out what kind of ride they had in mind and where it could be built. Consider the fact that roller coasters generally take the longest to plan out. For this season, they were originally considering adding a water ride, but built Skyhawk instead. This leads me to believe they didn't begin to think about this ride until two years in advance.. around the time they decided White Water Landing would be removed for Maverick. I think they know what kind of ride they want to build five years from now. That doesn't mean they have decided on what it will be or where it will be located. It doesn't mean anything needs to be eliminated from the park either. In the case of Maverick, I think Cedar Point specifically wanted to have more thrill rides in Frontier Town and the area surrounding White Water Landing could be used for a larger attraction. I believe they will replace this ride with something similar in the coming years.
"There is just simply no room left."
Imagine that. The opinion on September 9, 2006 is the same as this one from March 29, 1994. I'm sure in 2018, there will also be no room left.
