The Twins are Over the Hill!

Was I the only person from PointBuzz at Cedar Point yesterday?

I didn't make it into the park until late in the day, so I don't know what else might have happened. But a commemorative banner was hung from Gemini's red side exit stairway landing, a mirrored ball was hung over the loading platform, complete with a pair of ellipsoidals to light it up (although the one on the red side wasn't working; a man in a blue shirt was investigating), and a sandwich board was posted on the midway. The speaker in the garden in front of the ride had clearly been hijacked, as it was blaring the greatest disco hits of 1978. Yes that was the Donna Summer version of MacArthur Park.

The sandwich board was especially notable for the standardized warning message at the bottom.

There is no motor on the mirrored ball, but because it is suspended from the roof, it dances a bit any time the operators mess up and bring the inbound trains to a screeching halt on the safety brakes...in other words, just about every cycle.

I hope they at least decide to keep the disco ball through the rest of the season.

Happy Birthday, Gemini!

I was there Friday talking about how I signed one of the 25th year banners. Then I realized that was 15 years ago!

I was there, indeed hearing disco music really throughout the Gemini Midway. Took a ride on the blue side which I always go with, won, was satisfied.

The banner was there Sunday, the other elements weren't at that time. Too bad, RIP Donna Summer is fine.....Love to Love you Baby!

I was there on Saturday and noticed the banner. I did not, however, see a sandwich board nor a cake left out in the rain :-)

They should place Donna Summer's I feel love on a loop.

Or that duet with Barbra Streisand. In matching curly wigs.
Enough is enough is enough I can’t go on I can’t go on no no no.

Followed by Knock on Wood by Amii Stewart and Anita Ward with Ring my Bell.

I was there for a bit in the evening. I saw the banners and heard the music as well. They had a cool sign up next to the extrance with a funny warning sign about disco music.

A couple more Gemini & Gemini area comments; it seems as though they have been running both blue & red right from opening the last week or so, that really helps the fun factor for it. I hear many riders comment about the roughness of it, particularly when entering the final turn home & the whiplash braking to a stop. When they designed the track 40 plus years ago they were a tad harsh with the curves as opposed to the gentle curves of Gatekeeper & Valravn. I'm not complaining, just commenting as I will continue to ride & enjoy it as long as the line is short.

The disco music is interesting, Take a look at people, teens in particular, along that area. Yesterday I noticed numerous people grooving & bopping to the music. These are kids that probably never heard these songs before. While waiting on Pipescream other riders heads were moving to the beat of Rock the Boat. More More More, Andrea True Connection!

Random observation: While on Pipescream look over at The Charlie Brown on top of the Kids Swing. I know he sports that curl of hair on the front of his head, but sticking out the back of his cap is some debris or bird tail feathers that look like hair growth. He looks ready for Club 55.

Started with a 500 song playlist. Whittled down to around 160.

Did manage to get the whole 15 minute MECO Star Wars disco medley in there... <thumbsup>

And Disco Duck...

There are a few "from the era" CP promos worked in there from time to time.

It is a big mix of the best and the worst disco had to offer.

Perhaps Arrow/Toomer’s most unique and special coaster. Happy birthday Gemini
