The Station

With all the new topics recently, I haven't seen much about the station. The cantilevered clamshell of sorts is something completely different, and pretty striking in my opinion. Add to that two trains at once, and we're looking at one of the best stations in a while. Since I'm a structures geek, I'm kind of biased to anything other than a standard frame, since I deal with those all the time. So what do you think?

I love it. A nice change from the standard enclosed box style.

It's definetly a step away from the ordinary. I absolutely love the design. I can't wait to see what it looks like when it all comes together.

2003 - Ride Operations

Yeah, that cantilever utilization caught my eye...very cool. Definitely different that any other coaster station.

What is most anticipated event of 2003? the debut of # 16, the release of Metallica's new album, the release of Terminator 3, or the release of Matrix:Reloaded...tough call.

Should've made it made more look like a pit stop or gas station.
What I like about it is that it looks like it will be open air and pretty much at ground level. I like a ride where I can see the loading area from the queue and the midway. I like to watch the anticipation and reactions. I get a kick out of seeing some of the younger kids' reactions to their first coaster rides. It's neat to see the trepidation on their faces when they get near the head of the line and the relief when they've lived thru it. We should be able to see it all from the queue.
everything about this rides theaming is awesome
yeah, i remember people complaining in different forums (maybe this one too) about how cp shouldn't do theming because of the disaster that ended up...disaster transport that is...well i would consider this a themed ride and i would like to say good job cp, they took a step in the right direction w/ this one altough it isn't a full fledged theme, u get the point.
"...it isn't a full fledged theme..."

Now, I'm going to go off on a limb here, but how the heck do you figure that this isn't a full fledged theme? Let's take a look at what there is...

Name: Top Thrill Dragster
Launch: Hyrdaulic Launch simulating a dragster taking off the line
Trains: Top Fuel drag racing car replicas
Misc: Pull up to launch area where there is a christmas tree that will count you down to launch
Misc: THE ENTIRE TOWER IS A CHRISTMAS TREE!
Misc: There are checkered flags at the bottom of the hill
Misc: There are grandstands for people to watch the ride from
Misc: There is a safety fence around the outside of it, just like in drag racing

My Point: How can you say that this is anything less than a full fledged theme?

...because they're not providing helmets and jumpsuits for the riders to wear ;)

...or are they? :)

Probably not. That would just slow things down. Unless they had the riders go through one section of the queue where they picked out a nice size and color. Otherwise it would slow things down.
Well when I think of drag racing, I think of two cars. Here we only have one, but that's ok. It will still be awesome.

As for Disaster Transport, I like what they have done with it (could be better), but it is a lot better than before it was Disaster Transport.

Well come on, for drag racing they still have to do time trials to place the bracket. And they only run one car then ;)

It doesn't seem to be anywhere near as themed as Xcelerator, whose queue actually tells a little story, a reason for riding. The whole queue takes place in what I considered to be a yard that would beef up jalopies (hence the many run down cars) and turn them into Hot Rods (the trains). The story is also not mentioned, but hinted at, in the loading video when the announcer says "take a seat in your jalopy, errrr, hot rod". Its cool how they have an extra train shell front end piece lying around near a shed (which each also say different things, varying from Kens Kustom Farbrications to Guaranteed fresh rest rooms), half painted, indicating work has just been done on your hot rod. Its no disneyland story telling theme, but its not too bad for cedar fair.

BTW, Xcelerator's station was supposed to be all glass and chrome. that was getting everyone excited, and then it never came. oh well, the open air station is nice.

Well, I don't have much to say other than the station looks like it might just be one of the coolest looking stations I have ever seen.

Actually, Magnum Force, they do run two cars against each other for time trials, but it's not actually a "race" then.

I like the looks of the station a lot. And the great thing about this kind of themeing is it won't be as difficult to maintain as DT was.l

This station reminds me alot of the Kansai airport terminal seen in the links below. I like the look of that station. And contrary to magnum sinking rumors Kansai airport is sinking on it's manmade island.
