That section of FT, with Town Hall, the Gazebo, etc., has a late 19th century "Americana" theme, and "The Skyhawk" fits quite well within that in my opinion.
It's also a pretty efficient use of space. It's obviously a ride with a relatively small footprint, but they tucked it in back there where there was nothing prior, and pretty seamlessly integrated the compressor building into CCMR's train storage shed.

And most of my visits to the park, I 've taken a lap or two on SH due to a short line. Only one cycle waits most of the time in my experience, and it's fun ride!

Agreed. Honestly if I gauge riders' reactions, I think people are often more scared on Skyhawk than they are on most of the roller coasters. There's something to be said about swinging that high in the air with nothing but that little lap bar between you and the pavement.

Imagine replacing "the pavement" with "falling to your doom".
That's the Giant Canyon Swing at Glenwood Caverns, swinging over the edge of a cliff.
Unofficial Rule of Ride Removals
You must announce removals in advance so people can get their last rides in, unless a major incident or malfunction prevents the ride from doing so.
This applies to roller coasters, flat rides, water rides, and so on.
Exceptions to this rule include upcharge attractions, waterpark rides, and rides that are effectively redundant within a park.
Windseeker is the ride I love to hate. I ride it every time (if it’s up and running when I go by) and I wear the whitest set of knuckels ever for a while afterward. Not that the little grab bar will be any help whatsoever should part of it decide to cut loose and fall to the pavement. Or the sand….oh dear…
Anyway, The Skyhawk is one I do all the time and even though the seat is tiny it doesn’t bother me so much. But I think back to trips to CP and other parks that have a Swing and recall that friends/co-riders have tried it and freaked out. Some people just don’t like swings. I may hold an unpopular opinion but I don’t find the larger Screamin Swing rides to be all that exciting. (CP, VF, and now a couple of the Busch parks come to mind) They’re big, but wind up feeling a little slower with loooong swoops. To me, the most successful ones are the medium sized rides, like we find at Dollywood and Silver Dollar City. They seem snappier and get going quicker. Plus, as someone mentioned earlier, the theming is the right amount of Herschend cuteness.
