The Skyhawk

With the old STR and SRF area being used for something new, I think The Skyhawk needs to be removed from that area. How does that thing fit into Frontier Town? They could try to theme it like other parks have but it would be the "lipstick on a pig" treatment.

The Skyhawk > RRR.

That section of FT, with Town Hall, the Gazebo, etc., has a late 19th century "Americana" theme, and "The Skyhawk" fits quite well within that in my opinion.

It's also a pretty efficient use of space. It's obviously a ride with a relatively small footprint, but they tucked it in back there where there was nothing prior, and pretty seamlessly integrated the compressor building into CCMR's train storage shed.

It seems to do pretty well. The next coaster will be threaded through and timed to only cross while the swinging arms are up.

Has The Coasterhawk ever ridden The Skyhawk?

And most of my visits to the park, I 've taken a lap or two on SH due to a short line. Only one cycle waits most of the time in my experience, and it's fun ride!

I did try to once, but I couldn't figure out how to get to

Frontier Town because the Frontier Lift was gone!!!

It’s The Frontier Town.
Anyway, TAER IT DOWN!!1!11!

Personally, Skyhawk is one of the best non-coaster rides in the park. It's so refreshing, but also pretty nerve-racking for first-timers.

If you are ever at Dollywood be sure to check out Barnstormer; they really nailed the theming in a fun way.

Agreed. Honestly if I gauge riders' reactions, I think people are often more scared on Skyhawk than they are on most of the roller coasters. There's something to be said about swinging that high in the air with nothing but that little lap bar between you and the pavement.

That is the one ride that I staple myself into. One of the first rides I had on it the ride host left a whole lot of room between me and the lap bar. That put a scare into me at the top of the arc.

I love Skyhawk. Probably one of my favorite flat rides anywhere. I think it fits nicely with the area and takes up a minimal amount of space. It can usually be ridden with only a cycle or two wait on any given day. If anything, CP needs more rides like Skyhawk, not less.

Skyhawk, MaxAir and Pipe Scream are all fun rides. Though as we all know, PS is a coaster. :)

Skyhawk is a great ride, but definitely agreed that people are hesitant to ride it. It’s been a while since I’ve been on it due to the people being a bit scared, unfortunately.

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

I force myself to ride Skyhawk a couple of times a season, even though it scares me every time.
I'm not sure why I can't get over it.

Imagine replacing "the pavement" with "falling to your doom".

That's the Giant Canyon Swing at Glenwood Caverns, swinging over the edge of a cliff.

Unofficial Rule of Ride Removals

You must announce removals in advance so people can get their last rides in, unless a major incident or malfunction prevents the ride from doing so.

This applies to roller coasters, flat rides, water rides, and so on.

Exceptions to this rule include upcharge attractions, waterpark rides, and rides that are effectively redundant within a park.

That's how I am with Giant Wheel, oddly enough

Windseeker is the ride I love to hate. I ride it every time (if it’s up and running when I go by) and I wear the whitest set of knuckels ever for a while afterward. Not that the little grab bar will be any help whatsoever should part of it decide to cut loose and fall to the pavement. Or the sand….oh dear…
Anyway, The Skyhawk is one I do all the time and even though the seat is tiny it doesn’t bother me so much. But I think back to trips to CP and other parks that have a Swing and recall that friends/co-riders have tried it and freaked out. Some people just don’t like swings. I may hold an unpopular opinion but I don’t find the larger Screamin Swing rides to be all that exciting. (CP, VF, and now a couple of the Busch parks come to mind) They’re big, but wind up feeling a little slower with loooong swoops. To me, the most successful ones are the medium sized rides, like we find at Dollywood and Silver Dollar City. They seem snappier and get going quicker. Plus, as someone mentioned earlier, the theming is the right amount of Herschend cuteness.
