I dont know why but I love it. There is nothing like it. Ever since they painted all the buckets different colors about 5 years ago it just looks great. I think it really adds to the atmosphere of the park more that any other ride. Plus it is incredibly useful, unlike most Sky Rides. What do you guys think of it?
I like how they redid the station by the main entrance this year. Now I'm waiting for them to redo the other station. CP always amazes me in the little things that they do. They actually added a wall by the entrance to the ride and planted flowers. You have to admit that it is much better looking than before. The whole thing came out nicely. *** Edited 11/18/2004 7:59:23 PM UTC by newt***
Boy, the execs' jobs would be a lot easier if everyone were as amazed with a paint job.

A paint job is really no big deal, but it is better than doing nothing at all. Unless it is a bad color combo (i.e.- WildCat).
Beer and golf Thursday thru Monday, Cedar Point & beer, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Can you see One-Eyed-Willie from the top of Magnum?
To me, the sky ride is a great relaxation ride. After riding so many different insane rides, the Sky Ride makes for a great closing ride. Not only that, it's just cool to be hanging there, with a chance to look at the lake and have its nice breeze blowing in on you...
Well at least people reconize it. With nothing much to brag about in 2004 the little things that were updated like Iron Dragon and the Sky Ride made the park look better. It just shows how an amusement park as big and well known as Cedar Point is they can still come out as strong as ever without a new big ride every year. It's just another one of those things that I just love about the park.

I definitely don't agree with you there. I can't stand Iron Dragon's new paint job. I'm sure it's done what Cedar Point wanted it to do (make the ride stand out more), but it's just an eyesore for me to see three coasters in the same area with yellow and red as a part of their major paint scheme.
But I veered off topic, sorry. I do think that Sky Ride looks a lot better this year, and I love Sky Ride. It's a break from the more intense rides, and there is a lot to see as you make your way to either side of the park (Raptor's loop, for example).

I love the sky ride (or the "buckets" as they've been called in my family for years). I try to get on at least once each trip. It's nice to get off of my feet for a few minutes on my way to wherever I'm going (usually toward the front of the park) or back to where I started (the Magnum area of the park).
I concur with the paint job on ID, I think it's awful, but I love the blue color scheme on the SR station by Raptor. It looks TONS better.

The only knock on sky ride is it is not long enough. It should stretch all the way back to Gemini.

I disagree. It goes to a major intersection now so it works for the Millennium Force/ iron Dragon/ Wildcat/ Mantis/ Laser show crowd
What's wrong with extending it from one of the drop off/pick up points? Nothing lost, new section gained.

The "buckets" are actually called gondolas, and I am very glad CP has a sky ride. So many parks have removed their lifts that what was once common in many bigger parks now needs to be treasured.
I also loved the Frontier Lift, to bad that's gone. It would be cool to add another section to the Sky Ride. Angle it toward the old Frontier Town station and make it go above Iron Dragon.
I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.
Its great for getting to the some-what middle of the park and you can see a lot of rides from the sky ride. Its also a nice ride to be on the look at the park, and how it looks.
Goodbye 2005 season!!!!
I love just riding the ride, not really for transportation. It's a nice, relaxing, and beautiful ride. Maybe if they angled a second sky ride off the back station towards MF, where the tunnel is that crosses the path, that'd be cool.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.
I hate sky ride! It's one of only two rides in the park that make me nervous (Giant Wheel is the other!) I know it's silly but they inspire fear. Secondly, it doesn't serve much purpose. When it "connected" with Frontier Lift, you had a nice transport ride, but now it's too short of a trip to be effective.
