The Schwabinchen

Any word if this ride will ever operate again. Last I heard that Stricker's Grove bought it but I havn't heard anything more. I liked the Schwabinchen and it was unusual. I worked on it for a while and it was an interesting ride to work on. Where else could you hear polka music all day. If it is still available CF should refurbush it and add it to KI's Oktoberfest section.

Jason, it looks like the pictures TOPGUN posted are indeed Schwabinchen, only in pieces. The cars look exactly the same, and it looks like part of the wording that is in pieces is 'Schw'. I would say that is what used to be Schwabinchen.

I totally forgot about that ride! What ever happened to it?

I really miss Schwabinchen. It was one of my favorite rides at Cedar Point. They should really get another one.

They needed a place for Chaos. Which was being moved to fit in Millennium Force.

The exact reason I don't know, but I think it was along the lines of it was older and parts were hard to find (I could be way off). If they really wanted to keep it they could have put Schwabinchen somewhere else. And it was to make room for Dragster, not Millennium.

They had to take it out because the huge spinning woman in the middle was showing too much cleavage. Too many men drinking beer watching from the midway and blocking foot traffic!

After 2001, Dodgem I was removed. After 2002, Schwabinchen was removed, Chaos went in it's place, Troika was also relocated. I believe all that was for Top Thrill Dragster.

^You're right. The removal of Dodgem 1 building and Dodgem 2 cars was in 2001 and they went to Michigan's Adventure for 2002. The Dodgem 1 and climbing wall area was walled off for the entire 2002 season with the three foundations for TTD's tower inside. After Labor Day 2002, Troika and Chaos were removed and Paddlewheel Excursions was temporarily removed. Schwabinchen was removed after closing day 2002.

In 2003 TTD opened, Troika got a new color scheme and was placed in a large open space by Disaster Transport and Chaos took the place of Schwabinchen with a new lighted backdrop. Paddlewheel Excursions dock/filling station was modified to make room for TTD.
