The Rotor Man?

I'm pretty sure Fred is somewhat of an exception to the rule. He's not just some guy...he's "The Rotor Guy".

Last public train of 2005 on MF!

I have a great idea! I'm going to become the "Millenium Force Guy"

So that way I don't have to wait in line for two hours. Sweet!

As I said earlier...when I workd at the park we only let Fred stay on the ride if there was no real line. If there was a line we told him he had to get off and get back in line again...and he never argued that point with me.

He may be a nice man, but to ride the rotor over and over and over again would make anybody crazy. :)

Mihalic has you beat.. However, he still has to wait in line most of the time.

Does anyone have a picture of the guy? It sounds that his brain is pretty scrambled by riding the Rotor so many times.

I have been spending numerous hours at Conneaut Lake Park this summer helping as a volunteer ride operator and I gave Fred his 1,000th ride on the Blue Streak this week.

Whats up Tim. I ran the Bluestreak this year and he rode 2,088 times this year. He really liked his football that was all he talked about. Normally on slow days I'd just let him keep going around. Till someone got in line but he understood and got back in line.

Here is an artical about him

First the Rotorman wasn't as crazy as some would have you believe. Mostly he was just shy, i think. He has been able to hold down a job as long as i have known, which is more than can be said for many.

Second it cracks me up how people get so bent that someone would actually have some sort of "preferential" treatment. Give me a break. He was at the park just about every day. Also back before Cedar Fair it was common to let people stay on a ride if there wasn't a line. I know that i was allowed to stay on a varity of rides during my pre-teen years of park trolling. So it really wasn't a big deal for years and it really wasn't preferential treatment. And when the policy changed he complied like everyone else without a big fuss that i know of.

It's CF that's "sex-nuts and retard-strong" about making everyone prove their desire to ride with a show of physical endurance of running the que to earn their next cycle on the ride.

Actualy after meeting him at Conneaut this year, I would say that the no re-ride rule had just as much to do with him leaving as the Rotor being removed.

Normally I were supposed tosend them around at CLP. But on some days it is just him riding for a while and it is less work just to let him stay on.

kidcoaster, that is exactly the line of thought in the old GLP.

Jason, that may be true; but that doesn't mean he threw a big stink in the middle of the park demanding his preferential treatment. If you've been going to a store for years receiving one level of service, and it's changed in what is for you a negative way, wouldn't you vote with your feet if you thought the change reduced your benefit enough? Exercising your rights as a consumer is hardly making a big fuss.

I officially met Fred this summer at Conneaut lake Park, and rode many-a-Blue Streak rides with him... He's Great!

2,088 rides... WOW

I feel sorry for Fred. Will he go back to Geauga Lake now? Or will he start over at a new park now that Conneaut is closed.

good point jason, my fiancee and i were just talking about him the other day. I wonder now what he will do. I know he was devistated when the boats came out of the Lake

Yeah, he seemed to be pretty upset about Geauga. I would think he may decide to frequent Waldameer if Conneaut doesn't open. (Which is looking more and more like it won't)

I remember Fred, I was just a little guy when I saw him. I wonder at the end of the season riding the rotor so much if he got 'Non-Motion' Sickness. He probably had to spin in a swivel chair in the winter time. Probably harmless, but you gotta love this country, where else can you ride a ride everyday all day long, and have the goverment support you.

God Bless the USA

oh my god! i didn't know so many other people knew about the rotor guy. he seemed pretty harmless to me. i remember that if you stood up top and watched during the ride, he'd always look up at you and smile. my brothers, cousins, friends and i were never bothered that he stayed on. we just assumed he was trying to set a record or just really liked the rotor. nothing wrong with that. although i did see him get off a couple times when the ride was busy. he wasn't trying to get special treatment. also there were many times that i've stayed on rides if they weren't busy. me and my friends stayed on the cork-screw 4 times in a row and went around on the ski-lift several times. you just have to know how not to be a dick to the ride operators. obviously you can't do that at cp when the usual wait time is an hour or more.

Actualy I belive it's Cedar Point's policy that they do not allow re-rides. There is the rare instince, but it is usualy during some sort of event.

I am assuming he will go back to Geauga Lake.

I will miss him.
