How on God's green earth can you predict what winter will be mild vs. severe?

A couple days ago it hit almost 60degrees! It was also snowing (alittle) the last halloweekend, but it was much colder than a couple days ago!
But hey, you never know how the weather's gunna be........so if the park decided that they would have an extra weekend open, they would have to print it on the offical park schedule before the park even opens fort the season and God controls of the weather these days, so they might be doomed!
