The Ouimet years: some early thoughts

Jeff - Well, I have never been to Vegas....

Sause - Lol Your Probably right!

Favorite coaster: Millennium Force
Favorite flat: maXair

Considering there are two other rollercoasters in Las Vegas I don't think a third would have been that big of an issue.

Are you including Speed - The Ride? If so they took that down.

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

Nope. New York New York and the one in Circus Circus. Actually there is a third on top of the Stratosphere, but that's now defunct.

The one on the stratosphere isn't running anymore? I saw it on a show a couple years ago and always wanted to go on it if I ever go to vegas.

They took the coaster on top of Stratosphere down a few years ago. There are 3 other rides on the top (Big Shot, Insanity, and X-Scream)

You weren't missing much. It was easily the worst ride there.

I went on it and it wasn't anything to special. Especially the heat. It was a 117 degree day when I rode it and WOW! It felt like a was being cooked. 117 degree wind in your face does not feel very good.

Speed is being moved and modified. Some kind of retail thing is going in at the other end of the strip, across from Mandalay Bay, and they bought it. Not sure what will happen to the Saharah, and I doubt anyone will care.

Other than Speed, the Vegas coasters suck.

^They weren't very good. I did like this one coaster that was about an hour away from Vegas. I dont remember what it was called, but it was yellow and I believe it might have been taller or pretty close to the same height as magnum.

I was so disappointed to find the Sahara was closed down but still had some hopes that Speed would still be open when we went in November. It's sad seeing it just sit there.

Now if Cedar Point got a ride like X-Scream, that would be awesome. Too bad there isn't a building tall enough to make it as thrilling as the Stratosphere's.

^^Was it called Desperado? I know of a yellow Magnum-like coaster called that but I'm not sure where it is in relation to vegas. All I know is that it's at some place called Buffalo Bill's Casino or something like that.

Yep, that's the one he was referring to. I've not been out there. I never get a car in Vegas, and it's just too far out there.

It's not a bad coaster, has some good airtime but it was very rough when I rode it, both in the front and back seat. Id take Magnum over it any day.

I rode it way back in something like 1998. At the time it was still pretty smooth, and as such it's always ranked high among my steelies.
