Inspired by Rideman, who wrote in a previous thread - "Dave Althoff, Jr, who suggests that if you look hard enough you can find orange seat belts in some pretty odd places at Cedar Point..."
Question for anyone - which odd places?
My submission - the chair of the ride op watching the ride right before the waterfall section of Thunder Canyon. Not to mention the complimentary life vest....
Seriously the person on the chair wears a orange seat belt? Wow I cant belive that, but I guess with a sudden gust of wind he or she could fall out! :)
It wouldn't really be that dangerous unless a boat was right behind you........
Anyways, why does someone sit up there?

To yell at people who stand up and move around in the boat. Many people tend to do that, as they want to avoid the mini Niagara Falls that the boat will pass through.
CoasterChuckey -
Walk down Frontier Trail from MF and right after the petting farm, there is a wooden deck to the left to watch Thunder Canyon - you'll see a ride op strapped into a chair wearing an orange seat belt and a life vest. I think the belt is to prevent drowning in the 2ft. of water :-)
Rideman e-mailed me and mentioned another orange seat belt - at the top of White Water Landing, the ride op who sits in the sky is strapped in as well.
That's crazy, that chair is a good 10 feet from the RAILING where you might fall in..
We just want to be extra careful and make sure that there is NO WAY that the ride ops could get close to the water to help any guests...

On White Water Landing, though, it isn't an orange seat belt. There, it's OSHA-compliant fall protection. Probably not a bad idea, actually...

The chair is about 10 feet back from the water, as previously stated, and yes we do have to wear our little orange seatbelt. I think it's for the better, I mean the chair is pretty dang high and if I fell out of it I would most assuredly hurt myself, not to mention that there are some jagged rocks over there. :)
In other words, the seatbelt is cool where it is and I don't think we have to start worrying about whether or not CP is orange-seatbelt-crazy until they install them in the restrooms. :)
And to answer ddogg's question, we sit out there because we are to remind the riders of the safety regulations they are told of in the beginning of the ride and also to make sure they follow those regulations and ensure that everyone in the raft is safe and there are no major raft backups.

No more ceiling-shot ...waste by-products... that way, though.
No, I'll worry when I see seat-belts on the urinals.
