The next marketing term

The QuadraCoaster makes the most sense to me... 400+ feet tall, and quad- is the prefix for 4.

S:TE is over 400 ft even though the car make it no where near there so it would probably refer to the speed Blastocoaster, Blastecoaster -whatever is my vote
yes i do say so myself i like this one better than the other now cuz i do think that they go by the feet and this is 400+

I agree. "StratosFEAR" really would be a sharp name for the new ride.

Yeah StratosFEAR is tight.
I also agree, I think stratosFEAR is the best name mentioned yet.

Shouldn't all this be in the other thread...the one that's for the actual name of the ride?

This particular thread is about the marketing term that Cedar Point will use for this coaster. For example, Cedar Point coined the term "Giga-Coaster" for Millennium Force.

Quadra-Coaster is my vote. The StratosFEAR name is awesome, but won't be used for the marketing term.

supercoaster, ultracoaster.....seem cliched

Wasn't StratosFEAR what the Stratosphere Tower going to call their Arrow Fishook?

Which means the...

500 ft coaster will be a Peta-Coaster.

600 ft would be a Exa-Coaster.

700ft would be a Zetta-Coaster.

800ft would be Yotta-Coaster.

I believe CP will continue to follow metric termanology:

Mega appears to be the baseline for hypercoasters - Giga is larger than Mega - and Tera is larger still - so my vote goes to Teracoaster. Granted the numbers dont match, but the industry does seem to follow these steps, and the names sound good. Megacoaster, Gigacoaster, and (possibly) Teracoaster.

How about "Great Space Coaster" ;)

Okay, I don't know how many of you are old enough to remember that!

So does Gary Gnu do the press release?

For the record, the following are the only somewhat sensible guesses that were posted prior to Jeff's post on 1/6/03 at 7:20 PM where he said that someone had guessed it "save for an incorrect vowel":

Thrill-Coaster, Icono-coaster, Strato-coaster, Ultra-coaster, Uber-coaster, Super-coaster, Quadra-coaster, Intense-coaster, Rocket-coaster, Jumbo-coaster, Meta-coaster, Macro-coaster, Turbo-coaster, Nitro-coaster, Blasto-coaster, Sonic-coaster, Collassal-Coaster

Even this list includes some which are really not very likely but I think I have listed all but the profane and otherwise "stupid" ones. Question for Jeff: Is the correct one in the list above?

I originally posted "Ultracoaster" but I don't see this as being correct because it really wouldn't make sense with any of the vowels changed. Also, "Ultra" seems TOO final (like, what would be better than Ultra - Super-Ultra?).

I really think now that it will be Strata-coaster.

Instead of Ultra, perhaps Altra?! i dunno just throwing things out there. Strat or Altra

D/\MN GINA!!!!!!!!
They won't call it a Tera-coaster simply because of Bush's war on "tera" ... they don't want Ashcroft to declare the ride to be Unamerican, and people won't ride a ride that they think supports the "tera-rists"...

CoasterBob,

"Collassal" in your list should be spelled "Colossal" -- maybe there is your vowel? (And you have to get the 'L' out of there!)

Also, CoasterBob, I think you're one of the first if not the first person to say "Strato" instead of Strata-coaster. That also make work. Strata, as has been pointed out, is the wrong connotation.

I spelled it "Colassal" because that is how the original poster (kakarot) had written it. There were a few later posts that suggested that if it were written "Colossal" it would be spelled correctly AND fit Jeff's hint about the misplaced vowel.

As for "Strato", it was actually Fluidcoasters who originally posted it this way and that was before Jeff gave the misplaced vowel hint. Therefore, if Fluidcoasters nearly got it right, one of the vowels would need to be changed. And this would most likely be changing the "o" to an "a".

That's too Fun-E Spryboy! "tera-rist" lol - Cedar Point is NOT Un-American....

Going with the missing vowel theory, I'm gonna go with Rider's "extreme coaster" (spelled with the "e" this time) as a dark horse bet.
