The Money

I heard somewhere that CP owes lots of money to Intamin for building MF, WT, and TTD. I heard that they still haven't payed off MF yet. I don't know that much about finances and crap, but can anyone give me some information on this?
I'm sure they have it taken care of..........
Didn't Cedar Point make up MF's cost by 2002? Time to head to Cedarfair.com and look for financial reports. It's probably buried somewhere in there.

I own you!

lol! You don't build new multi million dollar rides if you haven't paid for the ones already built. Not if you're Cedar Fair, that is.

The rides are paid for before the time they are handed over to the park. It's just a matter of making the return on investment at that point.

Some people may think of a ride being "paid for" as in the park has paid for it and made the money it spent back on it already and showing a profit. It can take a few years on a ride the size of MF or Top Thrill Dragster.

Also.. Cedar Fair isn't the park chain with over $2.2 billion long term debt and a total liablity value of $2.6 billion as of their last financial statements on Sept. 30, 2002. ;)

I don't get where people "hear" things like that. There are no secrets about the way the company operates, they're a public company. They have to disclose everything. Read the reports and releases.

If Cedar Point still owed money to Intamin for MF, and WT, I dont think Intamin would have gone ahead and built Dragster until Cedar Fairs paid them off for the other rides.
I have a hard time believing CP calls Intamin and says "Hey man, I know we still owe you for MF and WT, but if you could front us one more coaster, we'll get you back on pay day."
No if you guys knew anything about accounting you would know that Cedar Fair accounts use this really cool account called ACCOUNTS PAYABLE. And intamin also has this really cool account called ACCOUNTS RECIEVABLE. Now if you need it explained in more detail email me.

Finally an annoucment.

There are also these people called "bankers" who arrange for "loans" so that a purchaser doesn't have to pay something all at once, while a seller gets paid in full. Neat stuff.

When you buy a car, do you pay the dealer as you go? No, you pay the bank. Duh.

Some people need to learn some of the basic monetary skills of our highly-capitalist society...
