The Mantis video wall.

Is it time to get new videos playing at the video wall at the Mantis queues? Or do like the same songs over and over? I must admit I would miss some of these songs.

What is your favorite song here? I haved always liked "Tears of a Clown".

I thought they just covered the TV screen, and let the music play. I think they could find a better use for the screens, maybe with DT's que line. Theme it for DT in the first part of the line (explaining the ride), then theme it for the haunted houses (pharoahs secret origin). This is all speculative if the video wall is still there! I'm not sure.

As a Mantis worker, I can tell you that as of last summer (2002), the TV's were still there, but they never recovered after the great lightning strike a few years back. I remember talking to Kippy and he told me that they bought a DVD player for the screens so the possibility that they will be rejuvenated this summer is great. It would also make since as they are to get a freeway lane.

MANTIS ROCKS 2002 & 2003

Ya know I am all about the Mantis songs. the ride is perpetually stuck in 1995 so I feel like I am back in high school again.

Ahhhhh to be 16 again.

Thats right Virginia, I am Santa Claus.

I think they should use it to start showing live video from TTD.

I'm gonna have to agree with Magnum_Force. The mid-nineties were great for music! Even though I'm still only 18, I can remember those summers and the music along with them. New music wouldn't be bad, but I would miss the good old "Hootie and the Blowfish" music played while waiting in line. Gotta love Hootie, even if they were way overplayed. :) ~Diana

Everytime I hear one of those songs on the radio, it makes me feel like I'm at CP. It really is pretty cool. I don't ride Mantis much anymore, but I really liked "Tears of a Clown" and "Because the Night". "Time" by Hootie and the Blowfish always reminded me of the Mantis and CP, especially listening to the words, because when I'm at CP, I don't have many cares and I have no worries, just feel free and at peace. It's great.

Cedar Point is closed for the season. Reason? Freezin!
The music IS great, but after over 5 years it is boring. CP really needs to do somethig with, at least, the music.

The best thing about Six Flags "Worlds of Adventure" is that Cedar Point is nearby!

I definately agree! Every year I go there, they are playing the same music as the previous year, not just on the Mantis! I remember hearing the same marches every year! It gets really bad in the hotel when the just loop the same CD over and over...I can't tell you the number of time I heard "Smooth Operator" this summer. :)

Back to the Breakers this summer! :)
I've only seen a DJ at CP one time...and that was several years ago in line for Magnum. I nearly left the line when the DJ played the chicken dance

It's definitely not a trip to CP if I don't at least here "Love Shack" played while I wait in line for Mantis. I have heard it every year and it just wouldn't be the same with out it. Even though the song annoys me sometimes, it's like a tradition for me now.

If I'm not mistaken, the whole "DJ" thing started in 1995 or '96, right? Raptor, Magnum, Mantis, and I believe Mean Streak had one as well. Could be wrong about MS, though. These came in with the onset of Summer Spectacular. I remember this because I'm a HUGE Kiss fan. They were playing quite a few Kiss songs at the time. I think they still play Rock&Roll All Night. This was also around the time Kiss started the "never-ending reunion tour". Man, they're still dragging that thing out. Bunch of old farts in tights. God, love 'em, but they need to give it up now. Anyway, what other rides had a DJ? I know for sure about Raptor, Mantis, and Magnum, because I went to school with some people who djed them.

EDIT: Sorry about the Kiss rant.

Yes, Mean Streak did have a did in the past. Now days they don't because the line never gets as long as what it used to when it first opened... MF has a DJ still to this day. Mantis I don't think had a DJ, as far as I know it had the video wall, execpt for now days.

I could swear that Mantis had one right behind the station, or maybe, just after the first water bridge? I guess I can't remember.
Mantis never had a DJ.
