The Latest on Construction

It looks like the crane is in place to top off the back tower of WT sometime very soon.  I think we should just keep this topic going to keep everybody in "the know" for construction and updates on the site.
Does anyone have any idea what that bright yellow spec is at the base of the crane on the beach cam?

Correction:  The large crane used to lift and place the remaining pieces of track is still down by the forward tower.  The crane by the back tower is a smaller one used to lift man-baskets.  Nontheless, they're very close to finishing off the rear tower.

That tower won't be up until late Tuesday or even Wednesday.....
Correct.. a few of us were out there on Saturday.. Two pieces of track still on the ground for the back spike. Crane wasn't moved towards it yet..

how did you get out there?
I think Tuesday or Wednesday sounds very possible also.  Except I wouldn't be suprised if it got held up a day or two because of wind.

Actually, it is under the jurisdiction of the CP police. My understanding is that the city has an agreement with them that puts them on the entire peninsula. Look carefully and you'll notice CP-made speed limit signs.

And the beach is not public property.

The entire length of beach along Cedar Point Road all the way to the park itself is private property. Unless someone has permission from a homeowner, I'd have to guess that it would be trespassing.

But I'm not a lawyer or the police ...

"If You Can't Stand The Suspense Then Sit Down"

Yeah.  I remember reading something like that in the employee handbook.  I wasn't to sure about it until I came in one day from the Chaussee and saw the saw private property signs that I saw on the causeway.

What do you expect to see that you can't see on the Web cam? There's nothing else to see unless you're on the beach in front of it or on the midway with Giant Wheel. You know, they have that warehouse ride next to it?

Right on Jeff! :)  I myself, am perfectly happy with just the webcam I haven't been to the point since Closing day although I was in Sandusky December 26th but not anywhere near the point.
I've walked down the beach several times and talked to several of the homeowners.. They don't mind people walking on the beach for the most part as long as you stay out of thier yards and you're not leaving a mess..

Several of them noticed us the other day and waved or just kept on going.

Is it trespassing?? possibly.. but people with houses on beaches like that tend to be pretty nice about walkers as long as you show the proper respect. I mean think of all the houses along the beaches in Florida, if those are all private property and the owners really wanted to be uptight about it, you'd never be able to walk a beach anywhere except the 50 foot wide public access areas.

If it was trespassing.. I'm sorry.. no disrespect was intended..

(and the only signs anywhere on the beach reguarding property are the no boaters ones next to the CP parking lot and the no trespassing ones actually ON the fence. Which is where we stopped.)

Well I am guessing wed. or thrus. for the back tower now. This is becasue of the HIGH wind speeds. There is no way they could possibly use and cranes today. Also I think there is going to be high winds thurs. So maybe Fri.
