The lagoon is dammed and being pumped, footers eve

Took the trip to the point yesterday. Interesting stuff going on. The laggon has been dammed at ID and right before the PWE station and pumped are pumping the water out of that area. The area includes the cut that makes Millenium Island. I am sure the dams are on teh other side as well.

Footers are being poured everywhere. The picture of what the coaster will do has become very clear. Launch looks to be in the Troika area right across from Corkscrew. It does appear that there will be a top hat at Area 51. The footers lead from troika area to area 51 where they curve around and go out the other way. 2 parallel lines of footers sounds like a top hat to me. I have pics that should be up later in the day.

Sounds good but I dont totally understand the area that is being drained.
It could be drained for many reasons. It could be to add footers there just like the Mantis area. It could be to bridge it with a large temporary land bridge for large heavy machinery. It could be that they are totally going to fill in that area and have it be dry land from now on (which I doubt would happen). And it could be because some of those six-foot man-eating carp are becoming hostile and they dont want to endanger the workers.

I knew this day would come, but its just too soon. I wonder how long they will keep that portion drained, but it will probably be for the rest of the year. Cedar Point most deffinitly will be a different place for Hallo-Weekends this year.

There are a lot of track marks on those "dams". I didn't see any pumps and thought they were using those sand bridges to get machinery across the lagoon.

Heading to the opposite side of the pond, on the Millennium Force Cam it looks like there are 3 or 4 trucks near the base of the "Magnum Hill". It also looks like there could be a land bridge directly underneath the Magnum Hill as well.

LOL. Yes, that would sound pretty bad. "Today a construcion worker was killed at Cedar Point when a man eating carp jumped out of the lagoon and pulled him in".

I don't think the lagoon will be permenantly drained, just until next year. They will probably put footers in the lagoon or build a massive land bridge.

Who finally met the infamous Magnum Dan!

So how do they deal with our man-eating carp friends when they drain the lagoons? I know they drain them every winter, and as large as the carp are, it's obvious they don't get killed off. Are they "herded" out to the lake?

I think those are the boats from PWE. They kinda look like they have striped tops like the boats had. There already is a floating bridge over by Millenium Force. A section is tied up to the shore that can be moved to complete the road over to the island. It is used to do track maintenence on the island, I think.

I also went to the park yesterday, and yes, things are going at a break-neck speed. Footers have shown up everywhere, and with Troika and Choas gone it seems weird to see so much empty land!

Does the Iron Dragon Pretzal Finale still have water underneath it?

Yes, it still has its water.

With the work that has been done it clearly shows the beginning of the ride. I walked by the area several times yesterday and everytime I walked passed it I asked myself if I was still in Cedar Point. I never realized there was so much room there!

I was there today, and not only do the locations of the new footers support the theory of a top hat in Area 51, but they also pretty much rule out the possibility of a dueling/racing coaster. Look at any photos of the footers to see what I mean. In addition, the bolt pattern of the footers leading into Area 51 is the same bolt pattern as the tan supports (6 bolts), so it looks like the tan supports may indeed be for the launch.

The question is, which side will be the launch and which side will be the pullout?

Oh and also, yes they did dam up the lagoon from the end of Iron Dragon to PWE, and they are pumping out water. I would assume this is to add footers.

I win my bet! When we were looking towards Magnum by the Corkscrew entrance in early August bet my cousin $10 that it wouldn't look the same next time we are there. We're going in October, so I WIN! Anyways, I wonder if this thing will go vertical by the end of the season?

The dam by PWE could be used to take equipment across but the one by ID most definitely is not. It goes across into nothingness. I have some dig pics I just need to get them uploaded. It was being pumped in the evening, by next week I am sure it will be plenty empty.

Cedar Point is building a new ride? When did they announce it?

Didn't you hear Dan? It's the worlds tallest, fastest...restaurant. No announcement needed. The track is really for SFWoA's new coaster...CP "stole" it, and are using it as a smoke screen.

Yup. Damn those fraudulent shipping labels... Wait'll the smoke settles on the SF/CF lawsuit over THIS one.

SF will probably sue CP also because they kidnapped 12% of their usual attendies and it caused monetary damages because of it.

CP4Life, I doubt we'd see it go vertical by then end of the season. They are still pouring footers and tearing the area up. I think the track will be placed after the announcement and if anything, right at the end of the season.
