The Future @ Cedar Point

Well. From all of the information I have gathered from Cedar Fair (i.e.- Hercules being replaced at Dorney Park) and from my own guesses, I have come to the following conclusion.

Cedar Point is/will try to be as secretive as can be with this, but I am trying to crack that. I believe that next year (2004) will be somewhat like 2001. In 2001, the following year after Millennium Force's debut, Cedar Point basically relaxed, only adding some non-thrill things. Well, Cedar Point has, once again, built the tallest/fastest roller coaster. Will they stop for a year? My 2 cents is that they will.

Cedar Point has intimate ties with Intamin (That was a pun I suppose) and I think that that 'contract' will end by 2005, in which CP will contract B&M. If nothing major happens next year, we can probably look for something HUGE in 2005. So basically, to conclude, is that I dont expect another large ride next year...but then in 2005, I see something larger than life.

This is not fact, it is a logical guess (in my opinion)

Before this gets closed, How about making this the one topic where everyone can post everything concering the years to come? The season is almost over and its bound to happen, so why not let one topic be the place to put them all?

"...and enjoy the rest of your day here at Cedar Point, America's 'Roller Coast'"
I see something happening for 2005, but I would wait for something HUGE to happen in 2007, with Kinzel retiring ;)
I think that pretty much everyone that has thought logically on the subject has come up with the same scenario as playa21. This is how Cedar Fair normally works in relation to Cedar Point. I really would consider that the expansions of Lighthouse Point and Soak City being major capital investments, however. They may not be flashy new coasters but they serve their purpose well.

Here is my opinion on the next few years. From 1997-1999 Cedar Point builds Breakers Tower in anticipation of Millennium Force. Sure an upgrade was in order, but why not do it just prior to having a huge boost in interest from the public.

2001, another "off" year. This time they build Lighthouse Point as to add even more capacity to their resorts in anticipation of WT and even more importantly Dragster.

For 2004 yet another "off" year expanding Lighthouse Point as well as expanding Soak City. Now is this solely to add more capacity to an already great new resort, or is it a hint for what's yet to come? I don't know.

I, as well as many others are certain that 2005 will bring a new coaster. I'm thinking a B&M flyer on the footprint of Antique Cars...check out the space for yourself, it would fit nicely. Also many rides, buildings, and fences are being painted in and around this area. Is this to make the environment look better for aerial/ground photos in that general area or just upkeep? Who knows.

Personally I think that Kinzel will go out with a bang. Perhaps 2005 will be the start of a 1-2-3 punch, each year bring a coaster that's more outrageous and spectacular than the previous one. This would put a definitive stamp on the legacy of Richard Kinzel for years to come.

...and the most anticipated event of summer 2003 is...

The Matrix: Reloaded!

Here we go with the super-secret "multi-ride contracts" again...

------------------
June 11th, 2001 - Gemini 100
VertiGo Rides - 82

I know. What about the third B&M of that ride contract. We have Raptor and Mantis, but where is the third coaster? (sarcasm)

I believe CP may be designing a B&M Flyer or most likly a Floorless since Dorney Park is getting one, but the future of Cedar Point is a mystery and time will only tell.

CP Coaster Guide Ride Count
TTD: 1; WT: 9; MF: 4; Mantis: 3; Raptor: 6; Mean Streak: 5; Magnum: 5

Yeah, Defenatly, I think they enjoyed the GP being confused, and guessing about TTD before they announced it... I doubt the next 'Huge' ride will be announced like "Cedar Point is Building for the future" Like TTD was... :)

------------------
TTD: 6 (Rollbacks seen: 24)
MF: 20
WT: 9

sorry to be a little off topic but what does GP mean, i see it alot around here. thank you

Cedar Point, The Roller Coast!!

Without upstops, airtime would have a whole new meaning!

Hrmm... nice opinions. I did want to formally announce this. Cedar Point appears to be making similar moves in terms of Dorney Park. I am almost 100% positive that Cedar Point will hit 20 coasters by the time Kinzel is done with it. When he goes out, he GOES out.

In my mind, they have Cedar Point planned to 2008! I am talking probably 4 new coasters...maybe more? I think that CP felt that they made an 'oops' by announcing Top Thrill Dragster, however, if I owned the world's greatest amusement park, I would want to boast the tallest, fastest, most outrageous roller coasters on this planet...

I look forward to the future at CP, expecting a flying or floorless coaster. TTD will definately carry them throughout next year, during their 'off' season. As well as other timeless classic coasters. I would hate to see ANY of them go...

Who knows what the future holds for Cedar Point? Well...I can name a couple people, but its not like they are saying anything!

Why was this topic closed? This was my idea for a place for ideas...forget it I guess...
