Got to catch "Heat of the Beat" on Saturday. Very good show but kinda short. Which is good as it won't chew into your day that much.
If you've never heard steel drums played live, don't miss it. They got a good group for this.
So the overall grades for Live E this year...
(this bases on my opinions only, and the dozens of times I've seen them this season)
Country Hits Live: A (coming from someone who hates country)
Summer Spectacular: B (some changes from last year but you can't help but love that closing song)
Rock, Pop & Soul: B (but getting better)
Fantasy: C- (I hate shows with canned music)
Horray For Hollywood: B (about the same as last year, but love the new props)
The Do-Wah's: B (about the same as last year)
Slam Dunk: D (last year blew it away)
Michael Jordan to the Max: B (nice break, good positive message for the kids)
Heat of the Beat: B+ (good fresh idea)
Splash 2001: A (good family fun, make sure to sit close or you won't be able to see the top of the tower ;) )

Just wanted to send out a quick thanks to all the people who went out of thier way to email me thanking them for the guide to the shows. I do it because I like them, but it's cool when someone else uses your info.
On a side note.. on my way to CP right now for another photo hunt on Vertigo. Got a hint about something that I want to be there to see.
P.S. Quick shout out to "Lady Marmalade" from Live E (she knows who she is), I buy next time at Louie's. RGR

I didnt email ya, but the tip on the country show sure paid off - thanks...
The Spectacular was good. I had a lump in my throat at the end - that song and ending has to elict emotion....
I liked SPLASH! alot more than I ever imagined. Now I wish I had seen Hooray for Hollywood - it was on the docket, but missed it - when I thought it was the same as last year I didnt feel so bad...so thanks..!! :-)
Of course that show will hold a dear spot once you've been in it ;-) I have the best friends...
Can you imagine Sabrina and me going up there? I'd feel bad for the guys if we did.....

Can I ask what the song is? I will not see this show this year...unless I'm missing something new and different.

Without upstops, airtime would have a whole new meaning!
The final song during the Summer Spectacular is Proud To Be An American.

Actually.. the song is titled "God Belss the USA" by Lee Greenwood..

Thanks RGR, I knew it had Proud to be an American in the lyrics.

Thanks. I guess there's no need to see the show this year. Or probably the next five. ;)

Don't they use "God Bless The USA" for the finale EVERY year? I remember seeing the show in 1997 and that was the finale then. Not that I'm complaining, it's the best part of the entire show.

I absolutely love that song. I think it is a perfect ending to the show, no matter how many years they play it. I think it brings everyone together at the end of the show. Every year I watch the show at least once just for that one reason.

I have to agree that some of your choices on ratings are right, especially county. But not all. There is no way Fantasy should get a rating of a C-(it's a very high energy show, good entertainment) or Slam Dunk a rating of a D. The drummers do a great job trying to get the audience involved and plus they CAN play. The shows at the park this year are all very good, but it is all an opinion.
yeah gotta admit the finale "God Bless The USA" almost brought a tear to my eye. but when ya got a girl next to you you tend not to cry though... ya just say "yeah the lasers rocked and the pyros were awesome" heh heh

"This is better than orgasm." ~Effie, Road Rules 2 on MTV
Well those are just my opinions.. I've been a drummer since I was 6, and I admit they can play but I feel the show is very erratic and not thought out well.
As for Fantasy.. well.. it's not my cup of tea and I know alot of employee's who feel the same (you'd be surprised who some of them are too.. hehe)
