The Disaster Transport

Disaster Transport isn't going anywhere. They have been putting in quit a few miner improvements. To get rid of it would be kind of odd. That would explain certain changes to the Cedar Point Cemetery this season though...

Dispatch Master, This is Transport one! I'm losing control, I'm losing control!
I love DT! I think they should change the theme every couple years though, because as you are waiting in line they have those posters of all these different countries and it says Disaster Transport on them all. Which makes it look like they had planned on changing the theme every so often to these different destinations which would be great! I think CP should put some bucks into this ride to spice it up. It's the only dark ride in the park!
Other than the lift hill, you don't have any time to see any special effects. It may be slow for a coaster, but it is not the old Pirate Ride either. My point...why put the bucks in it? I don't want to pay a buck or two more to get in the park to upkeep that warehouse. We are so familiar with the layout that anything they do to it will not be that thrilling. Put the money into something else.
Who said that would be all they could do. Doing something to the Transport doesn't mean another ride can't be built.

Hey Bill, I think it's sweet when it's totally dark, too!
Yeah, I like it in the dark too. When ever I ride it i'm not paying attention to the props in the ride, it goes by to fast plus i dont know where they all are.

Yeah but the props in the queue were nice.

Props on the ride where minimal.

CW=Currently working
SBNO=Standing but no Operating
R=Removed

Ride props:
1. Cargo Bay overheating. CW
2. Red lift lights. CW
3. space pirates. SBNO
4. Asteroid. R
5. exploding Asteroid. SBNO
6. Space Junk. CW
7. Space Probe. CW
8. Alaska. CW
9. Loading Bay. CW

The most effective props where the Asteroids. Sadly the Asteroid was the first to go followed shortly be the exploding asteroid.

Accompanying these props was sound on both the top and bottom of the lift as well as the second blocks and finale brakes.

Even more impressive was the rides queue. All the former queue props have either been removed or (most) are standing but not operating.

I still think "Dave and Franck" (robots) where shut down because they kept telling what the next years ride would be.

The original price to add all the props and effects, including the entire building, was only $3.5 million -- even if they were to redo the entire thing, there would be millions left over and available for other projects around the park. It seems that CP does a MAJOR project (ie. MF) only every other year, and the off years are good for other renovations, of which Disaster could be one. The building is already enclosed, after all, so that's a big expense already paid!

"only $3.5 million"

According to Jeff's ride description, the total cost of Diaster Transport was 7.5 million. Avalanche Run cost 3.5 million and the Disaster Transport theming was 4 million. 500,000 more then the original ride
1: At night the ride is basically a walk on!!!
2;This basically already has been answered.
3; I like it and so does my family, especially my mom and sister who CAN'T ride other rides such as MF due to health problems! As for others who say tear it down, its wasted money, you are wrong! Not all coasters are made for coaster junkies CP is a family park and that means rides of different interests and speeds are made to suit a vast majority. My mom basically goes for nothing to CP since there is hardly anything for her, except IR,DT,MR,BS,and Gemini! CP is the only park she will go to because she can ride 5 coasters others she can only ride one or two.
So to say the small coasters compared to the junkies is a waste, think about others less fortunate!!!!!! Thank You!!!!!

Okay, so the themeing was more expensive than the coaster - sorry about that. But what I mean by 'only $4 million' is that MF cost several times that, so if they were to revamp Disaster it would not be the only project. That much money seems like a lot, but in the grand scheme of things for a park the size of CP, it isn't. I'm not saying it isn't a lot of money, but you get the idea. *Grin* And I agree, newt, it is great that CP has such a wide variety of coasters for everyone!

Yeah, I knew what you were getting at. I just happened to be feeling nitpicky at the moment. That and a hit and run accident did $2000 damage to my car and I sure wouldn't say "Only $2000"!
they fixed some of the props finally!
which props did they fix besides replacing the exploding astoriod with a painted one?
