I recently ordered the Roller Coasters of Cedar Point DVD from the CP website. The DVD arrived today and I just watched it. Ok I knew going in that the DVD was only like 25 minutes long but there are a few other things that I am not happy about.
Why isnt there a menu on the DVD so that you can go straight to watching the Coaster you want to instead of having to fast forward through everything else to get there? I am no computer genius but even I can put menus or at least chapter points on a DVD so you can skip ahead.
Why did they have to use the stupid background music during each ride instead of having the actual sounds of the ride like are used on the Travel Channel for example? I would way rather hear the clickety clacks and wind and people screaming then have canned background music.
I hope in the future they will offer a longer version of this DVD that runs more then 25 minutes and shows some other things like the water rides for example. Its fun to see all kinds of things at the park when you cant get there in person. Like I said I knew it was that short when I ordered it but I dont have to be thrilled about it.
I think you bring up some valid points.
I have the DVD too and I like it.
But I agree about the music on the on ride videos.

I agree on the menu part, but I think you're being to picky with the music. It's not like they blank out all the sounds.

I would prefer hearing the actual coaster rather than background music.
The first 10 minutes or so show a little history of coasters at the park starting with the first one way back when that went like 10 miles an hour. They show a very brief clip of every coaster including those like Wildcat and Iron Dragon but when I say brief believe me.
They show in time elapsed photography the construction of millenium, dragster and either Raptor or Mantis. I could live without that part too but oh well.
The last part of the dvd is the view from the front seat of the entire rides of Millenium, Dragster, Magnum, Mean Streak, Mantis, Raptor and Blue Streak. Definitely the best part of the DVD and the reason I bought it.
There is a music video that is done in MTV style where you see brief shots of many rides that is seperate on the DVD
The DVD cost $20 plus shipping online. 26 minutes fot $20 not the greatest deal on earth but its nice to have something with the coasters on it.

Wow, I have never ridden the Iron Dragster. I might have to buy the DVD just to ride it!

Only guests with a special pass get to ride it :P
I would rather have seen Gemini or something over WT, what a waste of time. Thats a ride you have to actually ride. They might as well have the Ferris Wheel...
I would rather hear the roller coaster sounds too. The hard rock theme to Blue Streak drives me nuts!
I have the Discovery Channel - Worlds Largest Amusement Park video, and me and the kids watch it all the time. Getting us ready for the trip there later this month.
It's a pretty good DVD. But not really worth the $20 they charge for it. I would like to have seen more history. I don't care for the background music either. And I agree that Geminii should have been on the video. The chapters thing doesn't really bother me as I ususally watch the whole video every time. Now, if they could have combined the World's Largest Amusement Park vid with the Coasters of CP vid, you'd have a pretty good DVD with on-ride footage, history, and a behind the scenes look all together.
At least now I know not to get the DVD. I had thought it contained all 16 coasters. As nice as the big ones are, paying 20 bucks for not even half of them doesn't seem worth it to me.

You have to remember that CP wants the GP to be interested and enjoy the video as well. In an ethusiast mind the sounds of the coasters are music to our ears. In a GP mind they like to brag to friends about riding that giant blue ride Magnum Force and the music makes it more interesting while you just hear click, click, click, click, click, SCREAM.
I think CP should allow some of us ethusiast in and do some makeovers, but I highly doubt it. *** Edited 8/9/2005 7:49:29 PM UTC by Gomez***

I could be wrong and I'll check next time I watch it but to me it seems like the only ride sounds we hear were added in the studio.
