The Catwalks

What are the catwalks for? Easy question, right? Inspection and evacuation purposes?

I’m not an‘expert’ on coaster design by any means, but what purpose do these serve? The train can’t stop where they are located, can it? Are they there to check the joints on the towers? I’ve checked out xcelerators towers and didn’t see anything there. But that was before WT problems.

I thought I read there are 5 catwalks. If equally spaced up the tower, how high would the yellow go?

Probably visual inspections of the ride. They check MF's hill every day by using the lift bucket and stairs at the top. They will have an elevator and catwalks on this ride...simple as that.

I am guessing that each catwalk is about 75 above the first, putting it at around 425 feet tall with 5 catwalks.

what about the fifth (or whatever one ends up being the last) catwalk. will it go on the very top of the tower, or will there be more supports and stuff above it?

I'm sorry crash, but i don't think that each catwalk is 75 ft above the next. only for the fact that i was on the Magnum this past week-end and look back at the catwalks, we were going above the 3rd one. if each was 75 feet, the 3rd catwalk would be above the magnum. so i only figure each catwalk to be 50 ft apart.

If your not having fun, what are you having?

Yeah, those catwalks are definitely less than 75 ft apart from eachother. I'd say 50 ft is a good guess too.
I'd say that the the tower structure will be about 300 feet high, with the tophat extending far beyond it like Xcelerator.
