Is anyone else here just a little bummed by the latest Blog? I really enjoy the blog, do not get me wrong.
But I do not like the latest one at all. Maybe it is just me but I enjoy learning about the coasters, rides and history of the park. But what I do not enjoy is having an ad disguised to look like it is informative piece of information. It makes me think they think I am stupid. How many other places on cp.com can I get info on the hotel and the mystery weekends? A lot!
If I wanted ads I could just come here :-P
Just kidding guys. I plan on supporting this site some day soon.

I was getting a little disappointed of the latest blog entries too. The entries about the rides and rumors are really cool, but the ones that are about some stupid parade just makes me say 'meh'.
August 12th, 2005- Eminem and Lil Jon concert at Comerica Park.....I was right at the stage! 50 Cent sprayed water on me, Eminem was an inch away from touching me, and when the concert was over I walked outside and met Lil Jon's Eastside Boyz!
The blog exists to get you interested about Cedar Point. Maybe this particular aspect of the park doesn't interest you. But since the resorts are a big part of Cedar Point and the murder mystery package is very popular, I don't see the problem.
I put park press releases in the news section all the time. By your definition, though, they're not press releases, but rather advertisements. Perhaps I should charge them for the space? :)
You make a great point Walt.

I understand its to generate intrest and all. The last entry was just well sounded like a TV commercial written out... I was really enjoying all the facts and such on the park, but the lastest entry didn't even sound like a press release. It may be meant to generate intrest, but the lastest entry didn't grab me and make me want to return every few days to check out what new facts there is.
I think it is really hard to follow up to the meaning of "12E". Who knows, maybe they are planning something great.
I wish they would do some more behind the scenes stuff.

I do not mind ad's when they are in the proper place. Without ad's this site would probably be pay only. The real issue that I had with the previous entry is that they tried to disguise it. I do not expect flashing lights and sirens to explain what I am looking at. But disguising it was a little bothersome.
The diffrence between what press releases you post Walt, and the blog is that they are clearly labeled. If you want to get into the nitty gritty of ad's 95% of this website is one big CP ad / pr spot for Cedar Fair.
But the football parade? Maybe a little blurb at the end of a different blog would of been enough. How about one of those big picture/links on the main page of CP.com for the mystery weekend.
I love this forum and I appreciate everyones points. I also really dig Cedar Points website and the insane amount of content compared to other parks web sites. But I just thought I would see how many feel the same way about the last couple of Blog entries.
Also, check out the latest blog. This is my idea of a good entry. It's a cliff hanger.
Well, the blog IS run by CP's PR guys. They are primarily payed to raise attention to things at the park and advertise different aspects of the park. Sometimes this is through radio spots, other times its through the blog. Its not like it was a 14 page entry that was a disguised commercial. It was one page that you didn't have to pay for and only cost you about 90 seconds of time (unless you are a slow reader).

Oh my god guys look at the latest blog that just went up like J. Robert just said. Do I smell a 2006 announcement?!?!?!?

I did'ent think that this warrented a new topic so im putting it here.
Todays Blog says: "You won’t want to miss it. We have some seriously exciting news to tell you – and it’s coming soon!"
Let's hope it's something good like a big announcement for next year. That is probally wishful thinking though.
Broken, Fixed, Given up, Thrown Away "nine inch nails"
quote fropm the first blog entry follows:
This is OnPoint, Cedar Point’s official blog. It’s an insider’s guide to what goes on behind the scenes at this crazy park.

Lies! LIES I tell you!
:-P
Hey maybe they really are selling a coaster! ;)
I like the blog. It's seriously one of the best items they've ever added to the website. It adds a personal touch, it adds something to the site not there before. It adds a face that people can ask their questions.
To use it to promote the park, the site, and to get people excited about the park is a great thing. I think Tony and Tyler are using it perfectly.
I actually hate the webcams, and wish they'd remove them so I didn't have to hear about them every day.
Seriously. Give it a rest. Watching webcams all day is completely and utterly boring. I'd rather go cut the grass with a pair of scissors then sit here and watch the webcams all day.
Wait.. wait... New entry about something exciting... Demon Drop being sold... FreeWay gone...
*gasp*!!!
I know what's going on!!
Cedar Point will be CLOSED for the 2006 season for major reimprovements!!!!!
Oh, and if you missed the sarcasm, sorry.
