The anticipation is killing me
On the Wicked Twister Contruction cam http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/inside_park/webcam/index.cfm you can see that they have installed several of the gondolas for the Giant Wheel! Every day is one more day closer to openeing day and the anticipation is frenzying inside! And I live 2000 miles away!
I don't understand why more parks don't have webcams that run through the off-season (especially when they are building a new ride). The anticipation is stifling and it doesn't seem like it would be that much of an expense.
Somebody will have a time-lapse film of those gondolas being put on the GW and I can't wait to see it. It's really warm here (in KY) today and I've got roller coaster fever today in a major way. Just gonna have to keep on anxiously awaiting May 13th & 14th. :)

Well you should cherish this time because, you are getting all excited, you wanna ride WT, and you just want the amusement park season to start. But once it comes, your first ride on WT, or your first ride on MF for the season, its over.
And another thing, if you just relax and stay calm during your stay at CP, it will seem you have been there longer, if you jet around like a maniac, the day will end sooner, its kinda like a clock in your body that if you go real fast, the clock will go real fast and vice versa for if you stay calm. Just my ideas!

Hmm, I wonder how hard it would be to setup a service that automatically sends a request to the webcam pages, and RegExp thhough the page to find the image and automatically archive it? :-)

Don't mind me, I haven't been sleeping much lately.
I'll let you in on my secret. I've been using a program called LiveSpy since last year to automatically download and archive web cam images. Then when someone says something happened, all I need to do is go find the images saved from that day.

Did you guys know that windows 98 and newer all have this type of feature built in? If you have Internet Explorer just open the webcam of your choice and right click on the picture. Then you can set it as a desktop item and make a new schedule to have it synchronized every minute. I have all three webcams refreshing every minute on my desktop with a wallpaper behind of Xcelerator at Knott's. So I still have my wallpaper and my three webcams refreshing. The only difference is that it doesn't archive the photos so you can't see what it looked like 15 minutes ago.

Well for it to be really effective (the above mentioned "active desktop" for win98+)(so you don't get broken links) you need to have a constant cable/DSL connection. Some of us *ahem* don't have that luxury.
One thing you can do is make a webpage of your own (using notepad or something), setup the refresh rate, and just pop in a link to the cam image. Tada!
