That’s a wrap!

I got to witness a rollback and a few almost-rollbacks last night.

We were heading to Magnum around 7pm when we saw they were loading TTD trains again. I figured this could be the closest chance to getting a rollback so I jumped in line. The first train rolled back, and then I was on one of the almost rollbacks a couple of trains later. It was a crazy feeling slowly going over the hill. Closest I have ever come to a rollback for sure.

My best memory was me getting over my fear of coasters. I rode magnum last year, and that kind of got me over my fears, but then I rode gatekeeper as my first ride of the season, turning me from a coaster wimp into a coaster lover.

First ride of the season was gatekeeper, the last one was millennium force.

What do I miss? Oh, boy, this is a long one. I miss riding everything for one, but don't we all? I really liked watching lumonisity as well. Another thing is the early entry, then riding all day. After that, Luminosity, and plunging into the lake when tired. One fun thing was getting soaked on SRF and going on skyhawk afterwards.

Things to say? For my first year as a platinum passholder, this was awesome! I had a great deal of fun, and the fact I had gotten over my fear of coasters really made this year special. I also did some haunted houses for the first time(besides terror in the field at my hometown). I'm so ready for 2018, and I wish I could've seen the Hotenanny though.

My Favorite memories of the season were at KI. Only because they involve my grandson who is 6. He passes 48 inches and we rode Adventure Express first. But he rode the Beast and loved it along with Mystic Timbers. WhiteWater Canyon all our trips still has to be his favorite. Next year he'll get to come to CP. I can't wait to take him there. Hope he grows a bunch before next summer. But he can ride Millennium and Congo Falls.

First ride at CP is always Maverick. Might change next year even on trips without him. Steel Vengeance Is awesome looking. Great camping back in the corner there by it. Last ride was Dragster. Until this year Magnum was always the ride we rode last. Dragster seems to be overshadowed now with Valrayvn being a huge draw along with the other coasters that are huge draws. So now I can ride without waiting very long. The more I ride it the more it gets closer to Maverick on my list as far as best. Of course next year a new #1. If I can't get a ride at park open I'm probably not going to be riding, but there's always Dragster and a few years down the road.....

No particular memory sticks out more than others this year, other than maybe that one of my friends from high school worked at the park this year so meeting up after their shift and riding together was fun. Just to clarify, we aren't in high school now. Magnum was new when we were in high school. First and last ride was Blue Streak. I'm going to miss airtime and speed. Won't we all but also the ride in to the park since most of it for me is two lane country roads and I just enjoy that kind of driving. I've got many different routes I take and most of them take the same amount of time so any day I just choose which one seems to fit my mood. I could go straight through town right to Rt. 2 but that takes the exact same time as when I mix it up so I don't see the point. I'll also miss just being there. That's the thing I love about having a pass is there's no hurry, I can just enjoy being in the park. Only thing that comes to mind to say about this season is I didn't get there often enough but when I did it was the best stress relief money can buy. Especially the night I made the drive after work for less park time than the drive time it took to get there but it was so badly needed. Day before I got stuck in a high school lockdown situation after being asked to fill in when I wasn't needed at my usual assignment. It wasn't a drill, place was surrounded by what seemed like every law enforcement vehicle in the county and it went on for hours. This coming on a Monday after the prom at my own kids' high school where one of the older students was killed on the way home from after prom. When I go to the park I can just feel all the tension leave me and I suppose having that available is also something I miss in the off season.
