That good customer relations experience.

Hey, I don't want to be Mr. Poopy Pants all the time. How about some people sharing some particularly good customer relations experiences they have had at the park. I have a good time every time I go to the park. I just never have had an experience where I said WOW!!! they really went the extra mile for me that time. I'm sure someone has some experiences like that, I just haven't heard of any. I'm not trying to be cynical, just a little more upbeat.

I wasn't at it, so I didn't think of it when I started this thread; but, it sounds like this years Media Day might be an example. I actually was also thinking of a more individualized customer relations experience that wasn't planned ahead of time by the park.

Guru,

This is a topic that people might actually like. Good Job.

Just some friendly advice, for what it's worth -- When someone shares an opposite opinion of what you have, there's no reason you need to defend yourself or shove your opinion down their throats. It just makes you look uninformed and sometimes even like a jackass.

In Alcoholics Anonymous, we have a saying. "You don't have to agree with everyone else, but you have to accept it as their opinion".

No need to defend yourself for days on end.

Please don't take this as criticism, but as advice to help you fit in better, here.

We were at the park for a day several years ago and our daughter lost her cell phone while riding MF. (We have no idea how she managed to do that) While sitting at our kitchen table the next morning, I receive a call from our daughters phone. it was Cedar Point calling to find the owner and an address to return it to. They didn't even charge us for postage. She hadn't even reported losing it as we figured it was a lost cause dropping from that height and speed.

Cedar Point fans since when Blue Streak was still the " big one".

Thanks' for the constructive criticism. Other people would do well to follow that advice as well. As for me, people will think what they want and good for them. That is their opinion and I have never suggested or implied otherwise. It's quite another story when people twist things I have said and take things out of context because they don't like my opinion and they know they make too much sense or they just don't understand what I am saying. (end rant)

Don't you have any good customer relations experiences you could share?

We got free drinks at Panda Express today because they were late getting started and we had to wait. Media Day for GK was fantastic. More employees seem more friendly and I am getting a lot of greetings while walking about. The Ride ops on Peanuts 500 have been really nice and patient with me and my grandson.

That was cool. I think that would make a heck of a commercial for the cell phone manufacturer also. You could drop some cell phones off of a park bench and they would break.

about 5 years ago my son lost his phone on a ride during our trip. On the 2nd day they had it for him. It was broken in 2 and taped together. But they had alot of phones there too. It was raining when they went to the lost and found and the lady gave my wife and son 2 CP umbrellas. We still use the umbrellas. What a nice freebee!

I've noticed an improvement with customer service over preious years. It's still early in the season so hopefully this will keep up. But this past Friday, GK's crew was very nice. Also, Millennium had one ride op in particular that was really good. I didn't see his name tag, but he was really funny and energetic and would do stuff like "When I say Millennium, you say force!" He would yell "Millennium" and everyone in the station would yell "Force" and this went on for a few times. He would also yell out "Blue Train, are you ready to ride?" and so on with each train. And I forget what it was, but I remember him making some joke or reference to Disaster Transport that I found funny. This was at 10 at night, too, so he already had been working a full day. I love seeing employees like this.

Brian Short is one of the nicest people I've ever met. Any time I see him out working is a good experience.

Back in 2002, there was a TOTALLY AWESOME employee working the Go-Karts.

Ride host can make a huge difference particularly on the rides with the long lines. I can remember the days pre-Magnum when Gemini was the big dog. Ride host would really get the crowds amped up especially at night pitting red train riders against blue train riders. Guest would go nuts with half the station chanting "red train" and the other half "blue train". It would continue until one side of the station would erupt in cheers as its train pulled into the station first. I haven't seen that kind of enthusiasm on any of the rides in a long time. Sadly, I have seen ride host improvising the spiel or joking with the crowd only to cool it as soon as someone with shirt and tie walked on the platform.

I ran into the (a?) manager of games at the "bank a ball" game this Saturday as she was helping someone change a $100. I had just won a large Griffen and she helped me pick one out for my daughter. With an impish grin she said "Ready for your shout out?" and proceeded to do the classic carnie "Attention everyone, we have another choice winner at Gatekeeper Bank A Ball" spiel- except much longer than that and more funny and energetic. Really cracked me up. I didn't catch her name but it was clear she enjoyed her job.

I have had three over the years:

First when Magnum was just an infant (within it's first couple years of operation) the ejector seat took my wallet out of may shorts pocket around the camera hills. (learned a lesson there). Back then ride ops would walk under while the ride was in motion. The wallet, money, and credit card holder were found in three separate area's. Once I provided the name and guessed the amount of $ in the wallet it was given back to me right then and there.

Next was losing may watch on Raptor. I have no idea how that happened. Although it was never found the lost and found/security folks were very nice when I would go and check during my next few visits.

Finally, I lost a knit hat after the off season tour in Feb of 2012. I contacted Brian E. and sure enough it was found in the parking lot. He mailed it to me no questions asked from CP.
