Testing Solid on July 4th

I was hopeful that they were going to open it on Friday, so despite knowing that it was going to be very busy, I went to try to ride Top Thrill Dragster, unfortunately my luck changed this time. Though the ride was clearing the hill easily instead of creeping over the way it use to. They only had one roll back but they never opened it before I left. They had test riders on it and there was a line that reached all the way to under Corkscrew for a few hours. I left at 8:30 and still didn't see any riders.

But I did count eighteen seats, I don't know if this is any different from when it opened, I just know that we were wondering how many seats it had not to long back ago. But there were people working on it all day before they started testing at around six p.m., the mechanics were working on something inside the track right above the large cable wheel under the launch pad. As they were running test runs, there were still tools spread out everywhere.

Other than that, Cedar Point was running regularly, alot of different closures due to the rain, Mean Streak broke down before I got on it and everyone walked out of line, they made everyone rush off of Raptor and emptied all the trains for about fifteen minutes but they eventually opened it back up, mechanics were working on Wildcat that didn't open all day. (nobody has to tell me that this doesn't have to do anything with dragster)

It DID run last night. I got on the first train out at 7:30 (I was the smaller of the two people in the front seat) and there are now eighteen seats, which is more than what they started with at the beginning of the year. And yes, everything else ran good for most of the day.

Yes it did run last night. First train I saw with riders was at 7:34 PM. They cleared out a whole huge ass line of people. As far as I have heard the only issues they were having was a small block clearing problem and some type of trouble with the kicker wheels........I saw it launch a lot last night...I was watching it for a long time

By the time we noticed that it was running and got over to the line(sometime around 9 or ten) they weren't letting anyone else in because it was down. We made a quick decision to forget about it and got some amazing night rides on Magnum and The Force. We had a great day and I didn't feel like going through the whole "It's running, it's not running spiel" for the last few hours of the day while not getting rides on anything else. It was great to see it up and running though. :)

Dayum, I guess I didn't get to see it run. I walked around the line around 7 too. Unfortunately I went to ride Raptor before I left, when I turned to look at Top Thrill Dragster at 8:30, the trains were still going but they looked as if they were empty.

Congratulations to you two then, hope you had the time of your life! Though I know you did, :-D

Preparing for Daddy 101 again!!

I really find it depressing at the downtime of this ride. I wish Cedar Point could get their act together to open this thing...and instead of trying to open it at different times during the day...maybe just close it for a couple weeks, and get everything fixed, because its really just not fair for the visitors, having to be lucky to get on, going through all the hassle..and i dont think them launching it with people once, and forcing it is helping anything, it may just be damaging the ride more-thus longer repair AND downtime.
uh, dude, where have you been? it HAS been closed for Cedar Point to "get their act together". you are not promisec a ride on Top Thrill Dragster in any way. you aren't promisec anything when you enter those gates. they just hope to make your experience an enjoyable one so you can come back and thus have more enjoyable experiences. if enjoyment to you is spending your 43 bucks on one ride, then i guess thats too bad for you.

Wanna Get High? Ride Top Thrill Dragster!
RIP Top Thrill Dragster Themeing, who lies here in pieces on June 26, 2003.

why in the fudge would you plan a trip around one ride? and how long is this trip? if it is longer then a week, then why don't you go to a beach or a city or a mountain, because a peninsula in ohio is a good vacation spot for about 3-4 days (and you won't be griping later because a beach, city or mountain can't exactly break down). and still, why are you planning a trip around one ride? Top Thrill Dragster is a good ride, but planning an entire trip around it? and plus, aren't you just steelrider, gocryaboutit, and topthrillcrapster? don't you get it? Jeff can trace your IP, and if you do happen to be TopThrillCrapster (which is pretty likely considering that your profile says you just recently joined and that you only have 3 posts, hmmm...*speculate*) stop whining about the damn roller coaster!

Rogue, I agree totally - I am reading these posts trying to see how the ride is operating and the whining does get tiresome. However, my interest in the rides current operation is so I can plan a trip to Ohio for one ride (TTD). CP is the best park in the world (no question), and their other rides are great, but if I am going to drive 12 hours from Boston, having TTD operational is key. Hense a Sept or Oct trip (Halloweekends RULE).

So back on topic - Is the ride operating consistently - What are the approximate cycle times - and how many trains are they using this weekend (5 or 6).

Guys, Just don't answer TTCrapster's posts anymore. He's flung this crap on several threads now. Just ignore it and don't give him the satisfaction of a rise....
