I actually worked at the park that year. I was in Breakers. I do recall that the identity of the new ride was the worst kept secret at the time at least among the rank and file hourlys. In retrospect, it was kind of obvious, if not a little disappointing. I just recall the construction fence with the two tracks sticking out. I mean nobody knew what they were calling it, or exactly how tall it was going to be, but I can't believe the eventual announcement surprised anybody...
