After reading many threads, I must say that I am surprised that the consensus seems indifferent towards a new ride at CP next year. This is our park, don't you want something new for 2001? I'll be disappointed if an expanded camper village is it. I know it is a big investment, but the last year CP did not have a new ride was 1984 (If you count new Soak City attractions and Challenge Park). I hope they at least get a few flat rides. Could be a long, boring winter.

Cedar Point built a world-class, record-breaking roller coaster this season. You're telling me that won't keep you happy for at least 2 seasons?

I'm not worried about the future, I'm still happy with what we got, though it will be a long, boring winter waiting to get back to the point.

Again as Jeff said, we will not see an announcement until the end of winter. I have an idea of what is going to be done but I could be wrong. I can't wait til then.

Everytime the future is mentioned, someone comes along and says, "You're not happy with a 310ft. coaster". It's time to find a new line. Of course I am happy with a 310 ft. coaster, very happy. It's the best coaster in the world. But what's wrong with wanting a little something next season. You mean that if CP decides to build a killer ride next season, that you'll say, "Oh, no thanks, take it back. We have MF".???

I guess you have a point there, but still, I wont be dissapointed if there is no new ride next season, sure it would be nice for CP to build a new coaster next year and I would like to see that, but if there is no new major ride for another 2 or 4 years, I'll still be happy with the 14 other coasters we have.

Well, I think we are all expecting the Boardwalk deal soon. When this happens it will be like Millennium Force all over again! Who knows when this is going to happen though...

Actually, I was wrong... we're supposed to get an announcement by next week. Don't get excited about it, though.
I'm OK with the lack of anything new for next year. I haven't had my fill of The Force, quite frankly. I go for the fun, the good times and the friends. That's enough for me.

Well thats good that we only have to wait another week.
I don't know, dont you think asking for another world class ride the year after MF is kind of taking things for granted? I wouldn't expect too much for next year.

Net, I didn't say you're wrong for wanting something. Of course, everybody wants something new for the next year. (Let me take this opportunity to tell you CP is not my home park, but if it was...) But, if Cedar Point didn't get anything for '01, it wouldn't bother me. I don't really expect anything major for Kennywood (which is my home park) in '02 after Phantom's Revenge next year. And at the moment, I'm not too upset about it. Consider yourself lucky that you do live near/can go to a park the calibur of Cedar Point, where a new "big" ride is installed about every two years.
And by the way, Jeff. What kind of announcement?

Having stayed in camper village this year, I am glad to hear they are improving it. I wish they could make the entrance to the park closer to CV rather than making the guests walk through challenge park. It would sure be nice if there was an entrance between Gemini and Mean Streak.

Point well taken Lynch. Thanks for the announcement update Jeff. Looking forward to it, even if it's minor.

I hope they don't get rid of the on-point dorms -- it was sooo convenient to get up 15 minutes before your shift starts and not have to panic!
I agree -- more trees would be nice, and how about some more fountains in the lagoons? One by the Iron Dragon stairs would be nice. And gates on all the coaster Loads so no one is over the yellow line!

It looks like it won't, but last I heard, a contract extension for the dive show wasn't final. I guess we'll see.

Crystal Kat, part of what I loved about my one and only visit to CP is the lack of the loading gates. I guess, for safety reasons, they would be helpful, but I liked not having them there. It also makes loading faster since sometimes the gate operator may be asleep at the post, train empty, and no gate open.
What CP really needs is more food places to take credit cards. I had no cash and was shut down because none of the food service, large or small, took plastic. Gee, since we have practically given up on a new big coaster for '01, now look at waht we are hoping for... Either way, I hope to make it back there for the '01 season!

That's true, the loading gates would make it look less regimented -- nothing like being treated like cattle on vacation! *Grin* I just see how they would be useful from an employee's perspective -- people giving high fives and all as the train is moving, and that is dangerous (no matter how unlikely), and then the crew would get fried. But a good point!
