Supports Of Some Sort Spoted

I was at The Point this past Sunday and as I was walking past Schwabinchen I noticed there were tall, thin supports of some kind located on each side of the ride. Now the supports didnt touch Schwabinchen so they couldnt be for that ride. So for the rest of the day I looked at every kind of support I could see in the park and I came to the conclusion it looked like the supports of a ride exit. Does anyone know what there are for?

Possibly leftover supports from The Rotor?

If they're really close to Schwab, maybe they used to be used for some sort of decoration that is no longer installed for that ride? I know that CP has a tendency to let the accessory decorations slip through the years, maybe that's it.

I'll bet Nick is talking about the mysterious concrete fenceposts that appeared last season that the park has so far done nothing with. If you look at the positions of those posts, on either side of the Schwabinchen and alongside Peanuts Playground, a pattern starts to appear. Add to that the fact that the door from the Coliseum into the area bordered by those posts has "EMERGENCY EXIT ONLY" lettered onto the glass, although the doors are generally propped open. It appears that space is destined to become an employee break area or other form of non-public space, in the gap between the back of the Coliseum and the back of Schwabinchen. My guess is that the completion of the fence will coincide with the demolition of the current break area located behind the aquarium...er...Stadium Games arcade. That change will probably happen shortly before the aquarium and stadium are demolished, something widely rumored to be scheduled for this season, though it didn't happen.

Are your talking about the round concrete pillars that are about 7 or 8 feet tall near the ride?

Those were there last year. If you look at the posts near the fence in back of the Snoopy Boutique, they are the same size and make. I thought they might close off the area behind the ride. It would give the guys in the repair shop some privacy......

If those aren't the ones your talking about, then I'm stumped. I don't remember seeing any other ones. I'll look again.

You think so? I always "hoped" that Peanuts' Playground would give way to something new all together. It has just been in such a gloomy shape lately. Not to mention that the land is in an "L" shape there. And they have the possibility to plant a major ride exit in a large gift shop. An old trick that I am surprised the park hasn't used.

I don't remember if I posted it as a news item or what, but they were originally going to gate off the area behind the Coliseum because it really isn't that pretty. The concrete posts were erected late spring 2000, but they ran out of time to finish the job.

That's the official word. Sorry it isn't more exciting.

What surprises me is they had all of the winter of 2000/2001 to finish the job, and they didn't. Maybe there is some more to this story then they let on. Remember when the train tracks were moved to give a better view of the lake?
I remember the posts also from last year. If you look at the posts by back of Snoopy Boutigue & First Aid,they are the same. Last year, I figured they were adding a canopy or deck around the back portion of building. Some of these newer posts even have brackets on them for a canopy.

Actually, Jerry, I think those brackets are for gate hinges.

You could be right. I just guessed canopy since there are canopies on others.
