I was just wondering why Cedar Point does not put thoes "Sun Blockers" over the whole line for the Raptor, Mantis and Power Tower. There is no reason I can think of that they would not do the whole like instead of only a few squares. I don't think it would cost CP too much to cover the whole like, its just that on hot days when I go in the summer its horrible stading like some lines for a long time. Anyone know or have any idea why they dont do the whole thing? The only thing I can think of is so you can see the ride. But thers got to be a better wat... any ideas?
Thanks,
Relic
I think I had asked a simular ?? before about this-with Magnum the answer was the trees providing shade and then they installed those water spitting fans too-(which help only when you're at a certain place in line) I am sure it all comes down to $$ - MS shaded queue line seems such the waste - I can recall having to wait 2x in the shaded area-in general it is a walk on.
wonder if MF's queue line will be shaded??
Jeff-any clue?

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
Personally, I prefer the solution they came up with for Magnum with those nice evergreens surrounding the queue. Years ago, waiting for Magnum meant a bad case of sunburn, but since the trees have grown up quite nicely, it's not such a big deal anymore.

I agree. Trees are much better than the tents. Look how bad the Mantis ones are looking.
I think what they do makes perfect sense. There are really very few places that you're in the sun for extended periods of time, and that's good. I don't want to be under cover the whole time... it's summer! I am so tired of sitting in my office next to the lava lamp, all I want to do is get out! What better way to do it than be in the queue, entering and exiting shade at regular intervals.

That true Jeff but on thoes 90 degree days with no clouds its not the funnest.

Agreed Jeff. Just add those occasional misters, (no don't eat the mist; it's not decorous) and we're all set!
wait, you mean the ceiling fans under the shades in the Mantis line don't cool you down? i was there for halloweekends when the temp was in the lower 60s and they were still on (the video screen, however, was off so thankfully i didn't have to listen to the FRIEND'S theme again).
Don't get me wrong, on the hot days every little bit helps and aside from my biting scarcasm, i think CP does a good job of trying to keep us cool.
I guess I don't mind the lack of sun blockers all too much...I enjoy the scenery of the place a lot which is usually pretty pleasent, and I'm sure the adding of sun blockers would get pretty nasty by the end of the year. Maybe a few planted trees and acouple of fans spraying a little water in the air would be nice, but the heat of the lines never bothered me all too much.

man those misty fans they have now rock, i love em. i see people walking the full line even when no ones in it just to get a shot of it. but is it clean water?

I don't know how you can compare a sun blocker to sitting in your offic. you are still outside just not getting 3rd degree burns. I for one would like if all the queue was covered not completely but just enough to block out most of the sun. The DT queue for example is for the most part full because you are out of the sun not because of the ride. That is the only reason I ride it is to get out of the hot sun and the ride at the end is an added bonus

Having some sun on you, hot or not, is the whole point of summer! I wouldnt like it if it was shade the whole line throuh, like Jeff, I dont mind the sun here and there though the line. The queues on DT is one of the reasons i dont ride the ride, I like to be outside not inside during the summer, and the queues in DT is a real turn off to me.

The more you ride it, the more you want it!

I enjoy the sun, sure I'm bound to end up getting a minor sunburn, but thats just the sacrfice you make when you go to the point. Nothing beats standing out in the sun, waiting in line for Magnum, talking to my friends and enjoying the scenery. After a little bit of sun you go soak off on Thunder Canyon or Snake River, and to spin dry you hit the swings. DT queue is used for those rainy days. Without the sun beating down on you, your less likely to take a ride on water rides. The lack of sun blockers fits in CP master plan of running things.

Trees are the way to go. Trees let enough sun in (for those who like that) and gives enough shade to keep you cool. Plus they are alot nicer to look at then some tent. You can't beat mother nature!
