On Saturday, August 22, we're celebrating summer with a bang!
First, enjoy extended hours in the park - we're open until MIDNIGHT on Saturday, August 22.When you purchase a Starlight ticket for $29.99 (valid for entry after5 p.m.), you're enjoying extra riding time for a discounted price.
Plus, enjoy a spectacular FIREWORKS display that will light up the night sky at 10 p.m.!
We're also finalizing a few other details, so check back soon.
Just wondering if anyone knows of a large group attending the park this day that they added hours and even a fireworks show in to attract extra guests??

I think it is just another promotion to get more people in the park. Also I heard a lot of people that were unhappy with the 4th of July fireworks, so maybe they are doing a re-do.
Let's Get Weird.
I wish I could make it. I guess I have to wait till Halloweekends for midnight Maverick & Millennium riding.

First Top Thrill Dragster train of 2011!
Rollbacks: 1st Triple Rollback of 2009!
It sounds like what the Indians do to get people to come in the stadium. I think this is a great end of peak season promotion.

Hi, Where did you find this information at?thanks!!
It was in a CP FUNTimes email that was sent out yesterday and is on the CP website special events page.
Just look at it as an end to bash/ begining to Halloweekends party. It's the end of summer but yet it's the start of an amazing event for the park.

Unhappy with the 4th fireworks! Why?
Probably because they have sucked in recent years. CP has gone cheap and shortened them considerably.
Given how many people still show up for the 4th, can you blame them? If a shortened, less expensive show still packs the park, why do more? People obviously consider it a value.
On the flip side, how much can they reduce the show until people no longer show up in droves?

That's 3 hours of Cedar Point after dark. Night time is the right time at CP, especially in the summer.
Yeah it's really stupid that they took the time to put that together at all. They're real jerks...
Personally I thought it was a pretty cool idea. I've never been to CP for the 4th of July, but it looks like they shoot off some pretty good fireworks. I'll have to check that out sometime.

The Indians shoot off pretty good fireworks.
Disney World shoots off amazing fireworks.
Cedar Point? Run of the mill.

Oh, you mean like their ride cycles and food service?
The CP 4th of July fireworks last about 20 minutes, that's about the same as most 4th of July fireworks displays I've seen in Cleveland or various suburbs. They send up a good amount of fireworks. I've seen them at CP for a number of years now. I don't understand why people are complaining about them. Maybe years ago CP had some fireworks extravaganza, I don't know.
The Cleveland Indians shows don't last as long as CP's does, but man they really do launch a lot of them and some really unique ones too. They do have a great show.
I was at the 4th fireworks this year and compared to fireworks at MLB parks, thats what they were like. They were not as impressive as say the Detroit River Fireworks, but they were still pretty good. They had different shapes, sizes and lots of loud ones. They didn't get "consistent" until the finale, but I never heard any one on the packed beach compalin.
