Summer Break

This is to the people that live within about 100miles of CP. When do the Elementary/Middle/High School students end school for the summer break? And when do you start after the school break? Just trying to plan a trip so will you help me.
Schools in this area typically end the last week of May to the first week of June, and go back the last week of August to the first week of September.

Don't worry. Opening day is on a sunday and you have PLENTY of time to go during the summer.

Brent, they get out the last week in May? That's insane! The earliest I've gotten out is June 11!

But anyway, I think beginning the Friday after opening day it is open every day until Labor Day, and then Holloweekends start.

Well where I come from, seniors get out sooner than K-11. Usually sometime in mid-May. So unless Michigan is super crazy, I am assuming that is what Brent was talking about.

Thanks. Yeah, I'm trying to avoid the "school kid crowd" like Gary Garbenus. Does anyone have school on May 23? I might have that day off, if there isn't 2 more snow days. I hope there isn't.
LIVE E: That's about right for my lil slice of Michigan; Seniors leave the last week of May/first week of June (depends upon when Memorial Day hits in the month), while K-11 continues for an additional 2 weeks.

I think it's a Michigan thing...

Hey, I'm from the Buffalo, NY area (250 miles) and my poor kid's last day is June 20---she's in 4th grade---and contrary to what is written about this area---no snow days have been used in our district!!!!!!! (Just for saying that, I'll probably wake up to 4 feet of snow in the morning!)

Crazy for you, annual tradition for us. I can't imagine going back to school in August!

Actually. . .here at least, school usually starts the last week or the 2nd to last week of August. . . then the long weekend for Labor Day. And usually seniors get out the week before Memorial Day. (In May.) But k-12 gets out like the 2nd week of June. So our schools always take trips to CP.

(Plus all school districts have different dates. . .there is not like a 'state-wide' or even 'county-wide' calendar.)

Wow, I guess we have it good here in northwest Ohio. When I was in school, we were almost always out by the first week of June or before. And my senior year, we got out May 24, and everyone else got out May 31.

I'm surprised MillenniumRider isn't aware that a good portion of the school districts in Michigan go back to school in August, the week before Labor Day. Royal pain in the wazoo it is for parents.

My favorite times to go to CP are mid week in May, and the Thursday before Labor Day, which leaves my son out.
