stricter policy???

i have been to CP at least 3 times each summer for the past 10 years or so. i just went yesterday for the first time this year and noticed something different. i was with some of my friends who had small bags and things and at most coasters (corkscrew, gemini, etc.) they said we had to leave them in a locker or with a non-rider. that was troublesome cause someone always had to sit out to watch our stuff. i never noticed that they enforced this policy in past years. is this a new policy that came about because of security about 9/11??
It has nothing to do with 9/11. They don't want loose articles flying off coasters.

Two words - cargo shorts.

I was at the Hotel Breakers, and my friend came over and asked to use the phone. I said "Certainly." He said "Do I need to dial 9?" I say "Yeah. Especially if it's in the number. Or maybe you can try four and five back to back real quick."

I've got 3 more words (or is it 4?) - pregnant, non-riding wife. Though not everyone has one of those :)

Beleive it or not, I'm female and I specifically bought some mens cargo pants and cargo shorts so I don't have to carry anything. Otherwise I use a fanny pack.

I don't think they are any more strict than they've always been.

actually my friend and i were wearing cargo shorts and asked if we could put some of their purses in our pockets and we were told that no bags were allowed on the ride at all. maybe it was just that particular worker...

not that it was a hassle or anything. we just got a big locker and put all of the girls purses in there. i was just wondering cause i never noticed the staff being this strict about it.

I have always loved something about women in cargo pants/ shorts, especially with a hat on.

On a more serious note. When I go to the park, all I need is my picture ID, season pass and some money. What do people carry around that he/ she would need on them all the time? Put the necessities in a locker before you go on the rides, and when you need it, go back to the locker. On another note, PKI has lockers outside Tomb Raider with computerized lockers, no key needed. I found this to be a great idea!

...I will be more than happy to give you a cigarette...

Camera, film, sunscreen, lip balm, small first-aid kit, water bottle, wallet, cell phone (sue me), cheap disposable rain poncho. That having been said -- nothing that I can't carry in a pair of cargo shorts.

I have a friend who is a juggler. When I go to his house I don't like to take food from him if it is in threes. "He has three apples left...I guess I can't have one"

Will they still let you take a bag or something into the Raptor or Mantis? They do have those bins...
I take as little as possible...cellphone (required), money, ID/medical card and sunscreen. But I also like to have a fold up brush or comb or the digital camera now and then.

So do I, but I think it would be kind of funny to have one of those fold up chairs in a bag for a long line. lol :)

This is pretty normal. I'm glad they do it. I can just see getting beamed in the head with a camera doing around 90 mph as I start to walk through the tunnel on frontier trail. As I lay bleading from the head I wish they would keep that stuff off the rides. ...

On a serious note, take a look at the junk that end's up laying under the tracks. I've seen stuffed animals, hats, glasses, and car keys. There are a few areas in the park that the track is pretty close to the walkways. If some of that junk hit someone it could be fatal.....

Get with it or die in the process.....

yeah they still let you take bags on the raptor and the mantis because they have those bins. the coasters i was talking about was the ones that dont have the bins that they were strict about
I had a teensy-weensy purse that I carried on to every ride with me, with the exception of Wicked Twister, and that was only because the purse was giving me problems unrelated to riding, so I put it in a locker. I even took it on MF. No one said a word. In it was a cell phone, my id, some lip balm, and the car keys.

I was told by one of the ride ops that they are much stricter about safety issues this year than ever before... and I think we can see that this is true!

(psssst.... "Hi" JWA!!! ::smile::)

Hahaha. Careful, OldCPer, you might get thrown out of the park for crossdressing!! ;-)

All I carry when I'm in the park is my pass, money, and sometimes sunglasses...Although I had my cell phone in my pocket at coaster mania and almost lost it...

LOL! So maybe I should cut my hair shorter? Although there are a couple of points that are hard to hide. *GRIN*

Frankly, I just hate carrying anything around. When I'm wandering around a park and riding coasters, I want to feel as "free" as possible. I also purchased one of those little "cases" this past weekend for the PKI trip that holds the cell phone on one side, and has a zippered side with slips for cards/ID and a little pocket for money. The flap for the cell phone pocket can be flipped over a belt, which came in really handy for securing it on TR:TR which flips you upside down.

Kelly, that's why I like the cargo pants. They have either snaps or velcro to keep the pockets closed. And pockets low on the legs insures you aren't going to squish something like glasses. I wear glasses and am asked to remove them when riding WT or MF.
