Stimulus package for ride photos

One of the main reasons a lot of people don't buy get their ride pic is the idea of carrying it around the remainder of the day. Dollywood now offers a souvenir USB drive already containing popular pics of the park and includes the first personal pic. This program sounds like the perfect fit for the C.P. ride program. You hand the cashier your C.P. souvenir usb drive and they upload your pic. Done. Right back in your pocket. The price could be lowered because of the technology, but I think the volume would greatly increase. And the ease of sharing your experience at the Point with others is unlimited. Almost every household has a computer. The souvenir photo frames and key chains could still be sold. Sounds like a win-win plan to me.

Personally, carrying it around all day isn't a problem. The problem for me is feeling ripped off. Not at Cedar Point specifically, but ride photos in general. I don't think this would do anything for people looking to budget a trip. I mean, if a place is already charging an arm and a leg for a piece of paper, I would imagine that a storage device would cost a lot more. :)

Better yet - let me give you my email address when I buy my photo, and just send it to me electronically.

Electronic is going to be the way to go. We're in the facebook era and it would make it a lot easier for people to upload and share. Personally, I would buy more pictures if I could get them electronically to share with others. E-mail would be better yet because then I don't have to carry the usb stick, but either way would greatly improve my chances of buying pictures.

On more recent rides, they have the ability to just email it to you. I know Diamondback at Kings Island has this capability. I would think that it would get implemented at other ride photos in the future.

I'm pretty sure that they will hold it for you until 15 minutes after the park closes. Same thing with the Kaman's objects

It's not just the carrying around that bothers me though. It's the fact that I don't want to have to scan it into my computer. That's mostly because my scanner's quality just wouldn't be as good as an e-mail with the original file.

Exactly. Who even shows off physical photos anymore?

I personally like getting the physical photos. I hang them up on my walls or put them on shelves. I agree though, a USB would be nice.

I think it would be cool if you purchased the USB drive and after you get off a ride with an on ride photo you could have them upload the picture to the USB. As you are leaving the park there should be a place to print the photos for a minimum price, as the USB would be more expensive. This way you wouldn't have to carry the pictures with you all day.

I think that is a really cool idea!

Speaking of photo purchasing options, how come Cedar Point doesn't do what most of the other Cedar Fair parks do and give you a website to visit with a confirmation number on the back of the slip they give you when they take your picture at the beginning of the day at the front of the park so you can go online and buy/print from your computer? Usually by the end of the day, families don't have enough money or want to spend that much money on a family photo from the beginning of the day. But if they keep that slip, they will be able to buy it and print it from the computer, say the next time they get paid.

I don't want to sound like a Dollywood commercial, but they sell a souvenir butterfly (Dollywood symbol) usb flash drive for $25. That also includes pics of the park and your first ride photo. How much is the C.P. ride photo we get? I see people stop at the booth, laugh at their pic, and keep going. Just some food for thought. Speaking of food...

Bingo. That's definitely the way to go, eliminate any need for the guest to carry anything around. The technology is easily available, I've been on a Skycoaster in the last year or two (don't remember which one, possibly the 300 foot one in Orlando) that even did their videos this way. This day and age, it just seems more functional.

ralph you and I both know what cp thinks about functionality

Hahaha, this makes me think that FINALLY, the mantis and the mean streak would get some MUCH NEEDED computer upgrades if this were implemented. Have you seen the computer monitors at the mean streak? I don't think they have switched monitors since the mean streak was opened.

I'm sure you're too young to remember this, but the photos for Mean Streak used to be printed film, and there weren't any monitors displaying your pictures. You simply bought the print itself if you wanted it, and they literally threw thousands of pictures away every day.

It's funny that even under that system, they still managed to (presumably) turn a profit.

The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

Haha wow, well the first time I went to Cedar Point I think it was in '02. So I am sure they got rid of that system by then.

Kings island does(or did) do this on diamondback.

Durring a coaster event last year, we got to try it for free. After each ride on the coaster, I stopped by and had my picture sent to my email. It was ok, but I only got about half of the pictures.

I remember that they had an issue with the computers crashing, and had to restart them several times.

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Or even bring your own USB drive or camera card it is really not that difficult or even goto a web site that CP set-up and you enter a code and you can download it!!! just like JC Penny's dose with family photo's !!!
It would be a good idea though.

Being a Ride Warrior is just not a job!
It's a way of life!!!
I have ridden the all the coasters at K.I. and C.P. that i have lost count!!!!! and it is not the amount of times i have ridden, it is just the joy of riding them for me!!!!

Major League Baseball uses the Fan Photo at the ballparks where you go online and search by game day and gallery number. You can buy all sorts of trinkets with your photo on it. Something similar could work at CP.

that's exactly what i was saying, they do that at the hockey game as well! so there would be no problem to do some cool things like that or should i say easier ways!!!
