Station Speakers

I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of speakers TTD's station has. The ones that hang from the ceiling and are cylindrical. They have an "S" logo on them but I don't Know what brand that is. I doubt if anyone will know but I thought i might as well post it up here.
Well first off, this belongs in Top Thrill Dragster...and secondly I dont believe I know.. I thought that they were like Klipsh or something, they are nice...I didnt notice the 's' though...
I was going to put it in dragster forum, but they have the same speakerd in MF's station too i think
Don't forget WT. They are a pretty cool design though, wouldn't mind having a few...

I forget the manufacturer (I'm sure Rob knows), but the design is such as to disperse the sound in a large area from a central point, instead of from one point outward in a single direction.

That said, they're not something you want for home, where you want sound coming from discreet locations to create a stereo image.

DELETED! What time does the water show start?

I am 95% sure they are EV otherwise known as Electrovoice. They also bought Telex. Both are excellent companies.

http://www.electrovoice.com

We use there microphones Lavalier etc... and horns & drivers for football fields.

I think in the WT and TTD station both at EV speakers.

(edit: Well maybe there Electrovoice, I can't find WT & TTD's type of speakers on their site.)

Sorry to say this Hooper... but...

You are wrong.. MUUHAHAHA j/k

The company is Soundtube and they are a several hundred bucks a piece. Great speakers but like Jeff said.. for covering large area's not an enclosed stereo environment.

Ah, crap. Well nevermind.

While were talking TTD speakers, the subwoofer used for the revving (sp?) dragster engine when the train is in HOT launch. Is that a community brand speaker, and how many watts is it? I thought I heard 1000 Watts, which would make sense, though I wouldn't be surprised if it was more.

The speakers are community. They are the R6-51 model and the handle 1200 watts rms. 3000 peak. The website for community audio is: www loudspeakers.net . They do have an awesome lineup of P.A. equipment. Klipsh audio is also one of the best. I use Makie for my P.A. system sub.

Actually... no it isn't..

It's an R6-Basshorn and she's getting about 2000 watts RMS right now..

Dizzam, that's a big speaker.

When you say she's getting 2000 watts "right now" would that mean it's capable of more?

well i'm not 100% sure if i'm correct about the r6-51, but if you look at the spec. sheet for both the R6 basshorn has a very low frequency cutoff ( 300htz) and the SPL output is slightly lower. the reving sounds and lobing of a dragster still has a high frequncy to it . The r6-basshorn cut off @ 300htz. It utilizes an electronic crossover for that. Right now it is reciving no wattage. I would like to know if they are using a 5.3 or an 8 ohm impedance amplifier. By using the r6-51 they could actualy get away with using less power because they get a broader frequncy responce, and higher watt/meter SPL with less power. Red Gater Bob if I am wrong ,So be it! It Makes More sence to me to be efficient and thorough with the sound reproduction. Thats just Me! Besides I've only been around it once on opening day, and that didn't give me enough tim to get a really good look at it ;-)

Sorry If Spelling Isn't exact It's late and I'm just leaving work!! Have A Great Day!!

You ever look to the right of the R6-Basshorn?? ;)

You might notice an R2 Community sitting next to it. ;) with another 2000 watts going to that one as well. :)

Nope , I was to stoked to ride! like I said not enough time to totaly check out the system. But I must admit It makes it clearer why they would have the basshorn!! If there was no r2 the r6-51 would be the right choice. but hey when it comes to C.P. bigger is always the best :-)

To those 2000 Watt speakers, what is the amp driving those? And no I am not even going to begin to guess of a company (though a few come to mind)

Michael RMS is root means square, or nominal wattage always coming to the speaker.

The R2 series only handle 1000 watts program/ or peak.

RMS = constant wattage to loudspeaker.
