Station position

I am nearly positive that a two station set up will be used, maybe even three with load unload and launch stations. Just becuase it would help speed up the loading and unloading process.

I also think that the station(s) will be back in the trees near the ID turn, nearly on the ex break area for employees. This from the fact that the chain link fencing that went up this year maybe in place to prevent people in the queue from wondering outside the area and getting hit by the ID train. It is unlikly but ya know.

I wish the queue entrance went through the top hat but will probably be nearly across from corkscrew. With the ride times down on Magnum, Corkscrew and Gemini, I am sure the station will be very near there.

There really wouldn't be any use for a third "station".

A launch block maybe....

There will probably be two stations. One for unloading and one for loading. Meanwhile, the 3rd train will be going around the course and I am assuming once it hits the block brakes another train will launch.

My thought was that the loading/launching station would be where Troika was but a tad bit further back towards Power Tower, and the unloading station would obviously be further back than that...

By the way, can you explain the 3 station system to me? It sounds interesting, but I am not sure how that works...

I was thinking the station might be back near where ID goes over the lagoon. They could raise it up over the water like they did with Mantis's station. That would give them a huge launch area.

I think that if its going to be a short corse similar to Hypersonic then maybe the station will be like Hypersonic's. Just one giant station with loading and unloading at the same time, and then have the transfer area off to the side. Then have four trains on the circuit at a time.

Here's how I think we'll see the station setup. We'll have two stations, either both flush loading similar to what Demon Drop does now or what Avalanche Run did (for you old timers that remember back that far), or a system to what MF does today with a load and unload station. Instead of launching from the station like Xcelerator does, I think Project 2003 will have the trains roll forward to a staging position from where it will launch. Uptrack of the station you'll have a the brake run that will stop the train coming in from the course. So basically it'll be the same as Hypersonic as Dan alluded to.

That station launch is what kills Xcelerator's throughput. With Knott's policies on that ride, the crews need all the extra time they can get. The extra few seconds you gain by not launching out of the station would help a lot.

Yeah, I never understood why they launch from the station (in part because I wouldn't be comfortable loading with something under the train that could move it post-haste while I'm being seated). While you're waiting for it to engage, launch and clear the top hat, you could be loading the next train.

Yeah, having two stations and a staging position would be the only effective way to run three trains on this ride. Mainly because the interval will be so miniscule that the the train behind the one getting ready to launch will have to start getting loaded even before it launches.

Two stations and a staging position would take up allot of room. If they were to have a staging postition, you would think that the train would have to pull out of the loading station pretty far (I wouldn't like being loaded in the front seat and seeing the train ahead of me rolling back towards me after a misfire).

Do you think that the new ride will have 20 passenger trains like Xcelerator or will they add another car to increase capacity?

i would imagine we might see eight-car trains.
I doubt they'd move a train into the staging position until after the train before it made it over the first element.

I was even thinking that if there was three staging areas (load, unload, launch) the loading and unloading stationscould be perpendicular to the launch station, after you leave the loading station you would turn to the left and enter the launch platform.
They could, but there is enough space for them to be lined up one right after the other...hence the long line of construction.

I just don't know how much track they need for the launch though.

With more stations, you need more ride ops.

The system on Hypersonic (one station with two flush-loading trains at a time) actually could work pretty well. It would need to be a HUGE station for Mystery Coaster, and you'd need a few large staging areas as well.

Let's see:

2 trains (call them A and B) in station, loaded and ready to go.

Roll them forward to staging area. Roll 2 more trains (C and D) forward from back staging area to station. Begin unload/load on them (which, with a huge CP-quality crew, shouldn't take all that long)

Once D is clear of back holding area, launch A and roll B forward to launch area. When A hits the holding area, launch B. In the meantime, C and D should be pretty much ready to go, so roll them forward. Repeat cycle.

Not that this is what'll happen, but hey, it could work. (Oblivion at Alton Towers uses a similar "load 2 at once" system to run 6 of the 8-across 2-car trains at once, and it works pretty well)

The other thing to factor into the operation is for launch reset. Some time is need to roll back the launch "car" and to pressurize the system. Of course, this will happen at the same time the just launched train is on the course and while the trains are rolling forward through the station(s).

After visiting CP last night, I also now believe the station will be over the lagoon, somewhere just beyond Power Tower but before the Corkscrew... maybe in line with Iron Dragon's second lift peak...
That would expalain why some trees were spared along that area, some queue shade maybe.
If anyone has been to SFOT (ACK) the Mr Freeze launch ride they have actually has a unique station . It has one station but two queues and loading positions. One on each side so when passengers on one side get into the cars, the platform moves over or "moved sideways" from the loading platform onto the track...while that launches..the other car is loading on the other side.
