Station beginning to take shape

At the picture part of TTD website on cedarpoint.com they put up two pictures of the first pieces of the station being put up! Wow only 2 1/2 months till opening day, My sports season ends and the coaster season begins!

Yeah and on the webcam you can see them put even more up. If you look at the second picture you can see that the turn into the station is filled with sensors!

This is what I've been waiting to see. I think that station design is amazing.

Yeah, but the process is really slow. It taking them forever to build it.

That is going to look simply awesome. Once the station goes up you kow it's only a few short weeks before the first train is rocketed outta there :)

OH MY GAWD!!!!! I saw this piece on a truck on Route 2 (I-80) just east of Vermilion heading west yesterday afternoon around 1 PM. Never in my wildest imagination did it occur to me that it was part of Dragster!
Finally, something new to talk about.

I also see that I wonder why they would need so many sensors on the turn.

Finally an annoucment.

With the fast-paced moving of trains, I'd imagine the computers need to know, within inches, where each train is in the station. I think being off by a foot or two could open the door for train collisions.

Just my guess.

The Trains arn't on the track. Where do you see that at??????

Yes but around that turn they will be going exteremly slow. My opinion is that is where they are gonna unload the trains.

I said over on Coasterbuzz that I think unloading will take place in the regular station, not behind the station on the curve. You can see my reasons here. Jeff also brought up the point that there is no NEED for an unloading station since they will have 60 seconds to get two trains ready which is plenty of time.

60 seconds is enough to unload and load 2 trains?! You are in a dream world man. WT had one train, and that 60 seconds was tight.

From this picture and what the guy said right below it makes me think that there will be a seperate load and unload station.

If you're talking about the blue tarps on the brake section, I doubt that those are the trains. Monty said that they will keep the trains off of the track until all the construction is complete to keep them from getting damaged. Although they might be the trains but I doubt it.

Check out the webcam now, its looking sweeter and sweeter. I can't wait to see this thing when its finished.

Could somebody explain why the station steel isn't already painted yellow like in the artist rendering? Why wouldn't it be pre-painted like the track and supports? There's probably an obvious reason for this, but I'm not seeing it. Thanks for any help.

I don't know why you say that when Magnum crews have been doing it for 14 seasons! Our interval is 1:15 and it takes more than 15 seconds for the train to come around the corner so we do it in under a minute. Dragster's trains will have16 passengers each which is less than half the number that one Magnum train has (36). You're talking about taking care of 32 people in a minute which is certainly easily accomplished by a CP crew.

I actually made that post over on CBuzz in response to Rideman's theory on Virtual Midway about the unload stations. Don't get me wrong - Rideman is right like 99% of the time, but I just disagree in this one case! :) I think in the case of Dragster, the unload stations would require additional staffing with no benefit whatsoever besides people getting out of their seats a few seconds sooner. Why not let them sit there and think their ride is longer?

I'm on with the unload station theory, why else have that ramp where it is?

Anyone else notice just how big this staion is going to be? Take a look at that worker by the bottom of that first structural piece. He looks tiny.
