Stage shows & Kings Island

Before I was CP junkie,I used to go to Kings Island every month.Thats a lot since I lived in Chicago,but I loved the park, the shows were spectacular and all of my kids and grandkids loved it.I still miss those shows, as the CP shows are not up to that level.Does anyone else on these posts think that too?Its the only thing that keeps CP from being perfect.In case youre wondering why I dont just go to KI,well Parmount changed everything.The good shows are no more.We had a routine, rides in the morning, shows in the afternoon and then rides until closing.It allowed us to be comfortable during the heat of the day.And when youre older,you need to rest once in a while.

I see someone has started thier Superbowl party a little early.. ;) j/k

Lets see.. CP shows not as good as Kings Island?? I wouldn't go blaming Paramont for the change.. I'd blame thier Live Entertainment department for not coming up with something that is worth sitting through.

The talent is out there.

My favorite story is this years Big E award for Best Female performer. Are you aware of the 5 finalists, 3 were from PKI and 2 from Cedar Point. Cedar Point took first place and honorable mention (i.e. second).

5 Big E Awards this year.. Most ever taken home by a single park. Last year.. 4 (a record at that time). CP has won more Big E awards than any park. I find your argument kinda hard to follow.

I know that KIs shows arent very good now.Im referring to the time before Paramount.The last shows that were worthy of the name were in 1992, so maybe if you would actually read what I wrote, you might not feel the way you do.For your information according to "At the Park Magazine"The trade mag,Kings Island shows,AT THAT TIME"were second only to Disneyworld.After the Paramount takeover,1993,shows were cut back, the ice show was gone an so was the animal preserve with train ride which allowed people to coold down in air conditioned cars.

I have videos of shows from 1988, 1990 and 1992 and they are still as interesting to watch as ever.Something for every taste,from rock to show tunes and some good , and sometimes great dancing.(BTW, the chorus girls were spectacular)

I do watch the shows at CP, and enjoy them,but I cannot pretend that they are better than they are.The venue that KI has for theatrical productions is unrivaled,but sadly they no longer have the good shows.Thats why I have a season pass to CP and not to KI>

I certainly love Cedar Point,I got married on the Big wheel,I just would like the experience which is outstanding,to be even better :)

Where can I find the info on the awards? There are some PKI fans (aka CP haters) that don't believe that CP would be better. Thanks!

Are you telling me there is a rivalry between people who like CP and the ones who like KI?Wow,sounds like the Cubs and the Sox.

CP has it all over KI as far as ambiance and that means alot to me.They cant compete with the view coming up the causeway, and the food is much better at CP.

The shows ,pre Paramount,you had to see...I would describe them as something between Broadway and Las Vegas.Sadly,they are no more.There was one show on the main stage,2 shows at the outdoor stage,a major ice show, no kiddie stuff, and 4 Hrs of Rock and Roll next to the water fountains in the evening.Plus of course fireworks every night.In the winter there was Winterfest,oh heck, you had to see it.

Having said that,I am a faithful CPer forever..

It is comical how different people's opinions are influenced by their "home park". Many of the PKI fans believe that CP is just building coasters that "pierce the sky" to stay in competition with other parks to have the most records. Some even go as far to say that they would never ride TTD because it is a "one trick pony", which I totally don't disagree with but their opinions are based on never riding it. The list goes on and on about the complaints: the lines are too long, not enough flats, TTD has never operated correctly, not enough trees, not enough kids rides, and my personal favorite- "CP is not a family park".

The site I go to, PKIUnlimited, has a majority of their members under the age of 23, so it is somewhat understandable why thet have such misinformed opinions of CP.

They must be kidding!Not a family park?Its just that and more.The only advantage KI had over CP, when I used to go there, 88 thru 92,the shows were better and I can prove it.The appearance of the park,advantage CP,rides, CP,food CP,as a vacation resort, CP(breakers etc.),shows..right now CP.2 Kiddie coasters,very ACE friendly,the beach, good God,the advantages are endless.CP has a soul, KI is sterile.I tried to go back twice,its just not fun any more.Each time we spent less than half a day,we were bored.

The lines too long?The lines for the Gemini are probably the shortest for any major ride at any large park.Even the Mean streak is very short lately.

KI had one feature back then which I loved.The dog kennel boarding was free,at CP its $10.00, also the motel accomodations around the area werent as pricey.
