Spile

Were can i get the WT spiel? If you have a copy of it send it to me via e-mail.

I've been hearing some stuff from the Lemon Chill guy lately, you wanna hear?
"Welcome to Wicked Twister. For your safety, and the safety of other riders, please listen carefully to these instructions. Please sit facing forward in an upright position, with your back and shoulders against the seatback, and hold on to the grab bars until the ride comes to a complete stop. Shoulder harnesses and seatbelts must be positioned and fastened properly. Hats, glasses, and all other loose-fitting personal items must be secured. Pregnant women should not ride this ride. Please be aware that negative G-forces, or weightlessness, occurs during the course of the ride. Failure to follow posted safety rules and audio announcements may result in serious accident or injury. If you do not understand these instructions, or need clarification, please contact a ride host. Thank you for riding Wicked Twister, and enjoy the rest of your day at America's Roller Coast: Cedar Point."

That's about all you're going to get. As far as I know, there's no audio file anywhere on the internet of the recording.... but the entire crew can recite it word for word by now. ;)

Hey Gravity, your spiel for WT is one of the best in the park. I probably rode WT about 20 times this season and always tried to make it when you were in the booth. I just wanted to tell you - Great Job!

------------------
No ! They do not have Freeway for Dragster.

Actually that is the prerecording that is played through the speakers. He knows it by heart, but that is not what the operator says. All they say is "to put your loose articles in the booth across from you."

Since we're on the topic of autospiels (oh how I despise them), I'd like to see CP make all of them the way Wicked Twister's is - start the spiel a few seconds after the train parks. Just leave enough time for ops to say, "Welcome back riders! How was your ride?"

I realize that the autospiels are probably not going to go away no matter how much we complain about them, but something like this would be a nice compromise that would still allow some of the atmosphere to remain. It was amazing how many people commented on us not asking them how their ride was. All I could say to them was, "I wish we were allowed to ask you too." Some people who have been going to the park for years come back and yell out sarcastically, "My ride was great! Thanks for asking!"

I don't understand what's wrong with auto-speils. I think the ops get tired of saying the same speil so many times. I just think the speils should get shorter. Saying "pregnant women should not ride this ride" is a waste of time. If you're pregant you should never have been in line, and it's a little late to be getting off when you're already on the train. I like the one on TTD, KEEP ARMS DOWN, HEAD BACK, & HOLD ON! It's plain, simply, and down to earth.

I love the spiel that Dragster has as the train is moving up to launch, but the one in the station, which is like the ones being put in every other station sucks. Dragster's "keep arms down, head back, and hold on spiel is brilliant because it gets right to the point and isn't filled with a bunch of legal nonsense that no one pays attention to. People probably look up when they hear "pelvis" or "muscular parts of thighs" and are like, "WTF - I thought going on a coaster was supposed to be fun, not an anatomy lesson!"

I guess the fact is that they won't be going away, but they could make a compromise and start them a few seconds later (maybe shorten them a bit too) and let hosts still say, "welcome back!" It would be like the best of both worlds. Get your legal business in there, but still have some personality and human interaction which has always been part of what makes CP so great.

I do like the choice of music on the Dragster spiel though. Fits perfectly.

Brian, I wasn't talking about the autospiel I was talking about "Welcome back riders how was your ride?... Wicked! He also is constantly changing the launch sequence so you never know when you are launching. He also has a great voice which comes across very loud and clear. There always seems to be a little more exitement in the station when he is in the booth.

Baby I'm ready to go... :) I like it too

I love the spiel on millennium force! I could listen to that thing thousands of times, and never get bored, I love it so much! The lady's voice fits perfectly with the wonderful background music. I wish I could get that file somewhere!..

thank you.....and enjoy your record breaking ride on Millennium Force!

Thanks for the comments, Maverick. I try to have fun when I'm in controls... well, as much fun as we're allowed to have, anyways. ;)

Trust me when I say that we miss Spieling too. Now it's just too difficult to have that interaction with the guests that we used to have. We've been told to not interrupt the spiel unless we're saying safety announcements (Don't sit on the handrails, etc.) and the commmand words (Ready, Clear, Hold, Gates, etc.) everything else is banned.

What I would like to see is the spiels somehow shortened to fit in to the interval which the ride has. I know it's been discussed many times, but Corkscrew's auto-spiel is 1:30 long. The actual ride is 1:40. That's only 10 seconds from hearing the same exact spiel when you left. I can tell you that guests don't listen anymore than they used to, in fact, it seems they don't even notice them.

I agree with Matt on this, just give us like 5 seconds to ask riders how their ride was. You still have the human contact and legality all covered. Let's hope Gemini's auto-spiel is better.

BTW, I've heard a rumor that the Wicked Twister and Millennium Force spiels are both from the same lady, in fact, I've heard it's the Director of Training, Peggy. Anyone confirm?

haha Jeff I think you are turning people on (maverick).....

TO OUR RIDE :-P har har har

Oh, you know how pushing "dispatch" gets everyone all hot and bothered. ;)
We did, by far, have the best crew in the park this year. Well, I'm a little biased. Raptor and Demon Drop were a hell of a lot of fun to work with too.

I had that problem with the Raptor auto-speil. Every night it would play over and over again in my head and I even heard it in my dreams and woke up resiting it. lol.

"Welcome to the Raptor, you will be ascending to a height of 137 ft. with speeds reaching 57mph. For your own safety we ask that you please keep hands and arms inside the train at all times and please hold on to all loose articles. Thank you and enjoy your ride on the Raptor"

hehe :) just incase anyone wants to know :). At first I thought the guy said legs, but i figured its kinda hard to keep legs inside the train on raptor? hehe. We got so bored at the photo booth sometimes that i stood there and listened to it over and over and finally realized what the guy said. hehe :)
