Speed at top of crest

How fast is it??

Can't remember, it's too fast to think - does it feels close to zero G or is it truly that & get airtime?

It changes every launch.

What's the average speed then? 20mph?

For some reason I think it is between 7-15 mph. I read somewhere that is the ideal speed for an air time effect.

7-10 MPH. Any more than 10 MPH over the top will cause an over-speed exception and the ride will E-stop itself...now, obviously, the train will still come down the other side, but the ride will have to be reset before another train can be launched.

More than 10 MPH? I'm pretty confident in saying that I'm sure it goes faster than that at times.

That would definitely account for some of all the downtime they have...

Maybe if there's a strong wind, it would push it over at more than 10mph?

Yeah, from the ground it looks like it barely makes it over & everytime I think it's gonna rollback. :-D

Btw, one time a train had the perfect speed to stop at the top. A mechanic took the lift to the top & pushed the train over, funny stuff. Wish that happened to me.

Has that happened again??

Oh and is there a wind speed limit & exceeding would shut down the ride & what is it?

Let's say 50mph headwind on the launch or tailwind pulling out. ;-)

Wind has very little affect on the trains speed.

It has happened a few times.

Yes I believe around 30 or 40mph.

For some of all??lol Sorry, just found that funny.:)

I dont know but it's just not making sense to me. I mean, I've seen it go over to top at speeds over 10mph and run all day without downtime.

The speed limit is 35 MPH. If the anemometer detects a sustained wind of 35 MPH for more than 3 seconds, the ride will not launch.

Yeah, I learned that the hard way. That's why wind is on my list of things I hate.:)

Someone correct me if I'm worng but I was under the impression that there were 5 seperate times the ride sat on top of the hill. 2 of those times with people on the train. Here is a picture someone linked me of one of the incedents.

I also had a link to a video, but the link no longer works.

That would be awesome, you would get a great view rather than going over the top and immediatly going back down.

Intamin's target speed for going over the top hat is 14 MPH. Its like that for all the accelerator coasters.

I second that. It should stop at the top every time for 10 sec or so to enjoy the view.

The first ever ride I went on was MF then TTD. Liked TTD way better due to intensity but then MF topped end of day due to its ride time.

TTD ought to have 90 deg twist going down then over a giant 200-300ft airtime hill then an overbanked turn into another air hill on the same structure as the first just like MF's hills & another overbank into brakes. Just like Xcelerator but with 2 hills in the middle.

^And where would that go. TTD is already squeezed into its location.

From what I've read, Xcelerator and Kingda Ka go rather fast over their tophats, while TTD is notorious for going dirt slow. 14mph doesn't seem right.

KK can go faster since it has that brake at the top. 14MPH came straight from the mouth of the man with the nose. The man, I believe his name was Chirstian or some variation thereof, who was there from Intamin for the ride's first few months.

He's a very nice guy, very thick accent, a little hard to understand at times, but very cool.

Is it just me or is TTD suddenly going much faster over the top of the tower than usual?
