Special effects and theaming not repaired anymore?

It really sucks when your taking someone on their first trip and you tell them all about it, and it doesnt live up to the hype because stuff is turned off

Well for me some mist and glass bottles are not what makes a ride great. Sometimes things don't work, sometimes they are removed for good for a reason. It happens at other parks too, even at Disney parks. The central character that Expedition Everest is based off of is the Yeti and the very large animatronic yeti has not worked in years.

Both July 30th & 31st

-No mist in the "Dragons Lair" area of Iron Dragon.
-Maverick's water bombs not operational.

On a different note, Mean Streak's On-Ride Photo booth (though the camera was in operation and taking photos during the ride), never opened.

Why would the mist inside the tunnel affect the launch mechanisms when the same type of launch mechanisms are on the first lift in the outdoors? Wouldn't rain have the same affect?

Just think, the as of yet unconfirmed coaster will undoubtedly have some special effects that cease to exist as the ride ages.

Favorite Wood: 1. Balder (Liseberg), 2. Boulder Dash (Lake Compounce), 3. Voyage (Holiday World), 4. Phoenix (Knoebels) 5. The Beast (Kings Island)

^Yeah, I can see more mist being used with this ride...at least at first like you said. If it does, it will probably be something like this: http://www.rcdb.com/10137.htm?p=39473 An I HOPE it has a keyhole element.

The Rosco article is interesting, but does not apply to either Shoot the Rapids or Iron Dragon, both of which use something similar to Meefog...nothing more than plain water forced at high pressure through a very small nozzle and thus atomized into a fog.

Both types of fog are affected by weather. Wind can put the fog where it isn't wanted, and humidity can make a huge difference in the effectiveness of the fog generation. This summer has been unusually dry, with low relative humidity, which reduces the effectiveness of any fog system.

The foggers in maverick were taken out because it would set off the fire alarms in the tunnel shutting down the ride

Oh, thank you for clearing that up...

I don't even remember fog in Maverick, must not have lasted too long (especially because of the fire alarm thing).

I'm just hoping that what we see is what we're going to get. It'd suck if that nice landscaped area doesn't end up making it into actual construction, sort of like how Maverick's missing some of its mountain-like tunnels that existed in the initial rendering.

Didn't this happen within the first week of the ride operating back in '07?

^ ChrisC. It was well within the first two weeks, we had to go down numerous times because of the fire alarms. They were quickly determined to be the cause and completely removed.

With all the complaints CP gets on here about maintaining special effects, they always manage to keep the damn buzzers on the Hampton kiddie rides in perfect working order. Life's not fair.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Those buzzers always remind me of my first trips there in the '70's.

Opening Day 2015 : Rougarou - Front Seat!

It seems everytime CP adds a new ride with special effects, the effects always break after about 2 weeks of operation. I miss the lights in Mav's tunnel. They added suspense to the launch out of the tunnel opening. I wish they'd turn those back on. The fog I didnt really care about as much.

I get good luck with ID's fog though.

Magnum's fog is sometimes on, very rarely.(I never knew it had lasers though)

TTD needs to paint some track and the faded yellow.

I wish Maverick's tunnel was actually dark again. I think they removed some side walls on both sides of the tunnel, allowing sunlight to enter. I too, miss those LED strobe lights in Mavericks tunnel as well, along with that train crossing sound effect once you entered. Not to mention, didn't there used to be a loud *whoosh* noise that we were able to hear while in line every time a train would launch out of the tunnel?

I haven't noticed any walls having been removed.

I haven't either, but I have noticed a change in the tunnel over the years. I never could pinpoint it, but the idea of it being lighter sounds like a possibility.

Why would they remove sides of the tunnel? It's steel siding that can't just come off in 2 seconds.
