Space Spiral Destroyed

So, I was at Cedar Point yesterday and I noticed they put a big fence around Space Spiral and Trokia and they have had the cabin stuck half way up the tower for about 3 days now. But if I recall correctly Mr. Hildebrant said that it will close after Labor day and Disaster Transport will be gone in less than two weeks, which will put it the week before labor day. I was just wondering why won't they just demolish it now?

They probably have to temporarily close the rides so they can finish knocking down Disaster Transport.

I was at the park yesterday, as well. The workers were still putting up the fence sections back by the smoking area between DT and Giant Wheel when I went over there in 2pm hour. . I then went over by the restrooms by Space Spiral. One can look on the other side of the fence.

I could see no way the fencing can be temporarily opened. The park was packed yesterday. I would imagine they would have kept Troika and SS open unless, something changed managements plans. Maybe something broke on SS sorta like Wildacat, thus requiring the immediate unannounced closure of SS???? Or maybe it was for safety concerns regarding clearances for the demo of the last part of DT????

The fence is up and the rides are closed as a safety concern as the parts of DT closest to the public are taken down.

I was told by the Space Spiral ride ops on the 13th that it was the last day. R.I.P., Space Spiral.

The ride isn't stuck half way up. That's where they park it when it's not in use. At that point, the counter weight and the cabin are as low as they can both be at the same time.

It was stated at the press conference that Space Spiral will run till September 3rd.

The fence is up for safety reasons.

Right, Troika is also not being used at the moment because it is behind the fence.

Looking at the photos just posted online, it looks like the ramp that loads and unloads Space Spiral has been removed from the bottom of the tower.

So much for closing after Labor Day.

The ramps were still there when I saw the area on the 16th, I doubt they were removed.

Can you link to the photos? I didn't see anything new posted here giving any evidence of that.

And it looked like they were in the process of removing the ramps.

The ramps can still be seen in the picture. And I don't see anyone taking them down.

The fence is just a temporary one. It won't take much to take it down. I have a picture of them putting up the last part of it.

Has someone considered oh, say, asking CP about Space Spiral's status.

I see the ramps but it looks like part of them were removed. Maybe not though.

Either way, the "Space Spiral will be open until September 3rd" statement was false then. It may close on September 3rd, but it hasn't been open since this fence went up.

Now I'd imagine that the fence will come down once the building is all down correct? (even though everything wouldn't be cleared out yet). So Space Spiral will only reopen for a little over a week and a half.
