Sounds Like I Was Lucky

When I went to Cedar Point in early June I was able to ride TTD a total of 5 times in 1 and a half days(starlight ticket). I was kind of upset because all five times I waited in line the ride broke down for at least a half an hour, the longest being a total of two hours. I thought this was bad, but it seems that the problems are only getting worse. I feel bad for the people who were not able to ride at all when they went, I guess I was just lucky when I went.

Go Ravens and Lakers, don't worry, we'll bounce back.

X at SFMM is frickin awesome, it's a must ride for all coaster fans.

yeah it is getting sooooo bad *rolls eyes*

It seemed much much much worse last year....

Ride On!

TT2 laps - 4

Come on, people! I was at the park last Sunday through Tuesday. Yeah, I'm 5 hours away from the Point. Yeah, I wanted to ride TTD. Did I get too? No.

So what? There is SO much else to do!

I would bet that most who are complaining about the downtime live a similar distance away from CP. Please just get over it and ride the next time you are there.

To the 3 college aged guys from the land down under that were there when I was...who made the several thousand mile trip: I feel bad for you.

But, I'd bet you still had a great time.

Cedar Point is doing the best that they can do with a cranky machine. And this past week's downtime was not that bad stacked up against last year's performance. Or the performance of other rides at other parks.

Just enjoy the park if TTD is down. It's not like a wasted trip.

Just because it was worse last year doesn't mean that it is now at the performance level that it should be at.

And just who decides what that level should be? You? Me? I don't think so.

Things happen that are not expected.

I'd say that the people who go to the park and are unsatisfied with their visit. Judging by the number of complaints at this site, the majority of which is very loyal and too complacent wit CP, I'd say some people are unhappy with their experiences. Judging by this CP has, and is aware, of their problem, they just need to fix it.

I for one don't blame CP too much for the problems with TTD. Their Maintenance record is one of the best in the industry with very minimal down time per ride because they DO their maintenance. Most of the blame for TTD should lie with Intamin not properly engineering their ride. Yes it's new technology and yes its bigger and faster than anything before, but I still don't see why they didn't do more/better testing. It was my understanding that they started design and development shortly after the opening of Millenium in 2000, that leaves a little over 2 years for design and testing. The problems last year with the motor shouldn't have taken as long as they did to get a solution from Intamin, and whatevers caused the problems this year shouldn't be taking as long to get a solution from Intamin.
That being said, with or without TTD, I would rather go to Cedar Point than any other park/resort that I know of. There's so much more to do there, and yes I spend most of my time going on coasters, but I also usually hit Witches Wheel, Demon Drop, Monster, Antique Cars, Dodgem etc. Last year, I think TTD was open for what, a week, maybe 2 between Opening day and the end of July. It went down for 4 days and everyone's acting like the end of the world is coming.
As for the two blokes Scotty ran into, for you I feel truly sorry because you don't live close enough to even make this an annual trip (and if you can afford it, sweet, come back next year). Everyone else, quit whining because there is plenty more to be happy about in Sandusky.

Thank you, and enjoy your day at America's Rockin Roller Coast

I agree, but with last year, they had to wait for a whole new hydrolic system, Intamin doent want a bad name either. They probably were not anticipaitng such maintinece problems with the first year of operation. Engineeres make mistakes too! ;)

I know engineers make mistakes....that's why they are rebuilding a couple bridges over here for the new South Beltline Expressway by Grand Rapids...and I can almost guarantee that whoever messed up the design was subsequently fired.

CP has now gotten 3 straight rides from Intamin, one has safety issues and 2 have down-time issues. Maybe its time CP gives their semi-annual donation of 25 mil to someone else.

I see your point, and I'll raise. (Sorry, too much poker on TV lately!)

It is time the got a B&M. It's been to long! Raptor is still one of my favorites! You know, after being on MF a million times, the 300ft drop seem like any other drop to me! ;)

I'm definitely all for a B&M. I think I've said it on here before, but I would like to see them designe a dueling companion to Raptor. Granted Raptor wasnt' built as a dueler, but maybe they can build something into it to duel with it. It would add some new excitement to the Bird and also add a new cool ride for the front of the park.

No matter how many coasters I've gone on, Raptor is still my favorite, and I absolutely love sitting in the back right corner and getting whipped over the top of the hill.

John

There's probably not enough room in that area. They would have to take something out to do that, and that would either be the Main Midway (yeah right) or Blue Streak (what a classic). The chances of them dueling Raptor is slim to none.
But a dueling Raptor would be awsome, probably better than Dueling Dragons.
I'm still of the mindset that CPs next major attraction should be a dark ride, ala Spiderman @ IOA or Revenge of the Mummy @ Universal. With something like Mummy, you could even put it towards a coaster count.

ROUNDABOUND.

Yeah, because DT is just awesome.

Denmark is right,

I've ridden RotM at universal Orlando and it was one of the best coaster experiences of my life. Something like a dark ride/ roller coaster would be tight. Some thing that tells a story. The only problem is that CP isn't a THEME park, more an amusement park, so it might be weird having something like that being put into the park.

Hi, there!

I just wanted to say that we were at CP for our first trip from 6-26 to 6-30 and I think the TTD was running maybe for 5 hours total.

That said - We were lucky enough to ride it with only about a 35 minute wait (we had stamps).

UNBELIEVIBLE!!! I so hoped we would get to do it again but I know we were lucky to do it at all!! I will make that 9 hour drive again just in hopes of getting on TTD! There is more than enough there to keep me happy while I wait!

Sharon

Juggalotus, since when has CP been giving out 25million to a coaster company twice a year? I think you meant bi-annual (BM gets my vote for the next 25mil installment). I do, however, agree with most of your posts so far. One thing is that a lot of people on this site have ridden the ride at least once. People making long trips have not ridden it at all and are not informed with coaster talk..etc...put yourself in the everyday visitors shoes.

You know you're having a good day when you're looking at the green side of the grass and not the underside.
